Hey folks, welcome back to Listings Lounge.
We’ve had a number of threads talking about Pesticide and Pesticide Products. Today will be talking about EPA Registration and EPA Establishment Numbers. EPA Registration numbers indicate which company holds the registration for the pesticide product, while the EPA Establishment Number indicates the final establishment at which the product was produced. A facility that produces pesticides must have a company number before an EPA establishment number is assigned. This number is often grouped together with the EPA registration number, but that is not a requirement.
When you plan to sell a pesticide or pesticide device, you will need to connect with the correct State Pesticide Regulatory Agency for your business. You can review the steps for registration on the State pesticide registration help page.

I see many sellers confused at what a pesticide is. Here is an explanation from the EPA:
Pesticides are substances or mixtures of substances that are intended to prevent, destroy, repel, or mitigate pests, such as insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, antimicrobials (e.g., disinfectants), herbicides, and many pest repellents and attractants. (Pesticides can also be plant regulators or nitrogen stabilizers.) Application equipment is an article used for the application of pesticides. Such equipment may be part of a pesticide product if sold or distributed with a pesticide.
Using this definition a cleaning wipe, a light bulb, or a bath mat can be pesticides or pesticide devices as well as more common bug sprays and disinfectants.
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for making this thread as I'm starting to go through an issue with my car detailing product being flagged as a pesticide.
It had already been listed for about 5 months and selling, but when I tweaked the descirption/about this item it immediately flagged the prodcut.
I checked my verbiage and none of it says it repels bugs or anything of the sort. What is going on here then?

Hi there @Seller_92ltAuNTfKkot,
I've reviewed your ASIN and I would recommend you create a case with Seller Support to review the ASIN to remove the pesticide status. Products can be listed for a long time before being identified, so a product history of not being identified as a pesticide isn't enough to overturn a decision. However if you indicate you aren't making claims they may be able to overturn after review. If you have issues please create a new thread with your case ID and a member of the Seller Forums Community Management team will review. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for bringing this topic up @Glenn_Amazon! We see this discussion posted around the forums all the time and you were able to collect all the resources and educate everyone so eloquently. Our sellers and Community Managers greatly appreciate you for this! 🙌

I wanted to share my ongoing frustrations with Amazon's pesticide review and compliance detection process, which has repeatedly misidentified my products as pesticide products requiring EPA registration. As a brand-registered seller and a US-based manufacturer with 30 years of experience in the industry, we fully understand and comply with all EPA regulations. Despite this, Amazon continues to remove our listings without any prior notification.
Over this past weekend, I received several notices of ASIN removal due to this very issue. This isn't the first time we've encountered this problem—it's been a recurring issue for years now.
The reinstatement process is, frankly, terrible. Support representatives often don’t seem to read my appeal responses in full, instead replying with templated messages asking for EPA Registration or Establishment numbers, which are irrelevant to our products. It takes multiple emails, and I often have to insist on case escalation before someone finally reads the details I’ve provided.
Even when cases are escalated, I still face challenges with reps not fully understanding that our products do not require EPA registration. This often necessitates further escalations, prolonging the entire process and impacting our business.
I asking for one of the Amazon mods to address this issue. How is Amazon improving their detection and reinstatement process?
Thank you
I'd like to see one like this that addresses everything that is wrong with the ratings system and how we can convince Amazon to make changes.
Hello Glenn,
I need answers to the following questions and would like to share them on the forum. I’m attaching the link for reference.
Does the Amazon platform operate in a way that resembles the actions of scammers?
https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/c5f8f6ff-bcf2-47f7-b4b3-68621737826e?postId=c5f8f6ff-bcf2-47f7-b4b3-68621737826e
We have CARB restrictions on some of our inventory, though we don't sell any items that are required to have the CARB certification.
We have opened a case with seller support, contacted them through chat and sent an email to the correct department... with no outcome
What do we do when Amazon keeps taking down our product stating "that it is a Pesticide" when it is not and has NO chemicals or liquids and does not require a EPA registration? We have appealed and sent in the required information over and over but the Amazon Representative or BOT who is reviewing the paperwork, obviously has no idea about the machines or the beauty industry whom we sell to. Our Company has been selling the same items for over 20 years, and only the last few years has this become a MAJOR issue and has affected our sells tremendously.
