Restricted Product Scenarios: Pesticides
by Seller_nt9X7GoCkqXGB

Greetings Sellers!

I wanted to share best practices for investigations involving different types of Restricted Product Policy violations. Through specific examples, we'll explain why certain items are restricted and provide clear steps for handling these situations. If you have particular restricted product categories you'd like us to cover, please share your suggestions here in this thread.

There are many reasons why a product can be flagged as prohibited on the platform, which is why it will be vital to understand the local laws and federal regulations for each market you list in. In addition to this, it is advised to keep track of the specific ingredients, listing content, and images associated with a product, as this can assist you in evaluating and addressing any issues that may occur.

I understand that the process to dispute these types of violations can be complex, so below is our first example to review:

  • I list a pillow case and receive a restricted product policy violation for it being identified as a pesticide or a pesticide device. We know that a pillow case itself is not classified as a pesticide so this will lead me to reviewing the verbiage in my listing.
  • After checking my listing, I find that the description and keywords mention, antimicrobial fabric that prevents the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.
  • I then reviewed the Pest control products and pesticides help page where I found the following information…

A product can be classified by the EPA as a pesticide if the product claims, states, or implies, even indirectly, that it can or should be used to prevent, destroy, repel, mitigate, or take any other similar action against any kind of pest. Examples of "pests" include insects, mold, bacteria, mites, mildew, and animals. For US listings, this could appear anywhere in the detail page text, on an image, or both.

Products that make any antimicrobial, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, or other pesticide claim (for example, products marketed to disinfect, repel insects, remove allergens, or prevent bacteria) may be considered pesticides or pesticide devices under EPA regulations.

  • The information available indicates that my listing was using verbiage related to pesticidal claims without proper registration.

For me to address this violation, I must provide one of the following:

- Provide evidence of an EPA registration number and EPA Establishment number or both

- Provide exemptions from EPA regulations

- Provide proof that corrective action has been taken to edit/remove the prohibited pesticidal claim from the listing

Please note: If you remove essential verbiage from the listing just to avoid obtaining the EPA registration, this will be seen as an attempt to circumvent the process, which can lead to further listing restrictions and account suspension.

It is important to know, that if the claims are listed on the product or product packaging and you are unable to obtain the proper EPA registration or exemption, there will not be a path to reinstate that ASIN.

The best practice is to do your research BEFORE listing a product that may be in violation, so you can avoid ASIN restrictions and account disruptions. If you are unsure whether or not an item is restricted, you may want to consult with legal council before listing products for sale.

For additional guidance, please review our Restricted Products help page. It provides comprehensive resources to help you identify prohibited items and prevent future violations.

Probably not the single care of having products in transit from China to US.

When the containers left China, the tariffs on our products were 10.3%; now, they are over 160%

The FCL containers are shipped with AGL. Does anyone know if it is possible to reroute them to their country of origin (China) or a different country before landing in the US?

I want to sell my Amazon store operated since 2015
by Seller_yXF3Vy7aiSZ7e

I’ve had an Amazon store in the beauty accessories category since 2015. It’s been mostly inactive for the past two years while I focused on other projects. Now I am thinking about selling my Aamzon store.

Here’s what I’ve got:

1 registered trademark

A private label brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry

Good account health

A lifetime rating of over 90%

A website domain

I am weighing two options: sell as-is or restart, build up some traffic, and sell later. Has anyone here sold a store like this—especially in beauty accessories? Would love to hear your experience or advice.

Supplement Compliance Testing
by Seller_VcdIkIoExpaNZ

I recently listed my first dietary supplement on Amazon and was expecting to be asked for third-party test results from an Amazon-approved lab, as I believe this is now required for all supplement listings.

Surprisingly, I was able to create the listing and generate a shipping plan without being asked for any compliance documents or COA (Certificate of Analysis).

I’m wondering when exactly does Amazon typically ask for the third-party COA, How long does it usually take before Amazon requests the compliance testing?

Is there a way to proactively request that Amazon review my listing and ask for the COA now, so I can get everything submitted and avoid last-minute listing removals?

I want to stay ahead of any compliance issues and avoid potential delays or account disruptions.

Any advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

An idea for reviews
by Seller_46I11Ui4B5BRj

It's so unbelievably difficult to get folks to review sellers. I've sold hundreds of products, but only have 4 seller reviews. Why not do what other websites do and just give 5 stars after the return window has closed? (if a customer hasn't reviewed by then)

account temporarily under review
by Seller_MFQ2juBVrLaeO
Amazon replied

Greetings, two sellers made a false report that two of my listings were inauthentic just to remove me from the listing and they could sell their product, now I have to make a video call to clarify that my products are authentic only because two sellers cannot compete fairly, Amazon should take action in such a situation, please if anyone has any suggestions please let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here because I’ve exhausted all my options and I want other people to hear my story. I want this to serve as a notice for those who read other suspension forum posts and think, " that can't happen to me because I do everything by the book and have proper supply chain".

IT CAN AND WILL!

My selling account was deactivated on March 5, 2025, over a single ASIN listing, a piercing aftercare spray, which Amazon alleged was causing “inauthentic” complaints (Section 3 Suspension). I was told that my funds would be withheld and my FBA inventory would not be eligible for removal.

However, I have never received a single customer complaint related to authenticity or any complaint at all for this product. The product has a return rate of just 0.45% (only 14 returns out of over 3,000 units sold). Despite this and the fact that I provided **complete documentation, far beyond what Amazon originally asked for, my appeals keep getting rejected with no real explanation.

Despite the lack of any real issue, I immediately complied with Amazon’s request and began gathering documentation.

Amazon asked for invoices dated within 365 days and prior to 03/05/2025. I provided that, but I also went above and beyond, knowing how often these appeals are denied even when documentation is submitted.

Here is what I submitted:

1) Invoices from my supplier (who is reputable and a known wholesaler!)

2) Invoices from my supplier’s supplier

3) The manufacturer’s invoice to the supplier’s supplier (to show that my product is in fact legitimate and literally ORIGINATES from the Brand themselves!)

4) Certificates of Good Standing from the California Secretary of State and Valid seller’s permits for both companies in the supply chain (both my supplier and my supplier's supplier)

5) Verification links from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration to confirm permit status

This is a fully documented, legitimate supply chain that clearly shows the product came from the manufacturer and flowed through authorized and legal channels to me.

Despite that, every appeal has been denied with the same message: “We could not verify the transaction with your supplier.”

This is false. I confirmed directly with my supplier that no one from Amazon has ever contacted them about my case. They have received no email, no call, no communication of any kind. Amazon continues to claim they "couldn't verify" something they haven't even attempted to verify.

I’m not the only one. I’ve been watching this forum and others and it’s clear this is a common pattern. Amazon suspends an account with vague claims, requests documentation, then moves the goalposts or simply ignores what’s submitted. Sellers are told to provide more and more documentation, often going two or three layers deep into the supply chain. That’s not realistic, and it’s not fair. I knew that Amazon does this since I watch the forum and I only sell products that I can trace all the way back to the brand. I did everything right in this case. I should not be punished for that.

This situation is financially and emotionally exhausting. I have:

Inventory that I can't access or remove

Funds that are being withheld

No clear process for resolution

A business reputation that’s being damaged without cause

-----------------------------

If anyone here has gone through something similar and has advice, please share. If someone from Amazon is reviewing these posts, I’m asking for help. I’ve done everything right and just want a fair process.

Can't list my own products
by Seller_M3DzrXyUVkqOk

Hello.

We are trying to list our own products. Many are updated versions of older products. However, my team and I keep getting the error that we must apply to be authorized by the brand. We are the brand and have a number of our own listings already published. Why can't we add new products to our account? No one on our account can add products, we all get the same error message.
