Listing Lounge: How to Update a Listing

by Cooper_Amazon

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Listing Lounge.

There were a lot of great discussions happening in our last post about Search Suppression and how to fix a listing when it has been suppressed. Quite a few sellers commented on the difficulties they were having when updating a listing, so I have worked with a few of my fellow Community Managers to collect some best practices on how to update a listing:

1. A seller should first attempt to update a listing by visiting the Manage Inventory page on Seller Central, select the listing you would like to update, edit the attribute according to the help page (if it's not greyed out) and click the Save and finish button. (If you would like a refresher on what an attribute is, feel free to check out @Glenn_Amazon's post Listing Lounge: Meeting The Attributes).

2. If the information you attempted to update is not reflected on the detail page after 24 hours, upload a category specific full file feed with the required information you would like changed. Check to see if the changes successful went through after 24 hours.

3. If the changes from uploading the full file feed were not successful, you should have received an error message and a batch ID number. Record that information and take screenshots of any error messages. Reach out to Selling Partner Support and provided them with the following information:

  • Share the Full File Feed you uploaded
  • Error Code you received when submitting your feed
  • Batch ID of feed file you were using to update attributes
  • Reasoning behind why you were trying to perform this action. (A seller could share with support they were editing attribute 'Item weight' on ASIN ABCDEFG123 as it was search suppressed for missing the weight on the listing).

4. If Selling Partner Support is unable to figure out what the issue is when editing your listing, sellers are more than welcome to reach out to us on the Seller Forums by beginning a new discussion, select the Create and Manage Listings category, and use the tags, ‘Detail Page’ and ‘Listings’.

Note: If the ASIN you are trying suggest an edit for is not brand registered, you can still create a case to have the information updated as long as proof is provided. To read more about this process visit the help page linked here.

Thankyou @Cooper_Amazon for your post. Now for the next question.

Have any sellers had success when following those processes?
