Do you know how you Rank in your Sales Rank? Today’s Listings Lounge topic is about the most common questions about the Amazon Sales Rank, the ranking system that displays top selling Products in given Amazon Categories.

This information is displayed on the Detail Page under Product Details and looks something like this:

So in this case this product is the 32nd best-selling product in Home & Kitchen, but #1 in Pillows!

The Sales Rank is based on the Category Browse Nodes associated with the ASIN. Please note that Amazon only displays the Sale rank for some categories where it has been determined to be helpful for Buyers. You can learn more about updating Browse Nodes in the Change a product’s category help page.

Sales Ranks are determined by only one factor, sales. More specifically, Sales Rank is calculated based on all-time sales of an ASIN/Product where recent sales are weighted more than older sales. While you might have a lot of recent sales, other products in the same category might also have had a lot of sales, so the Sales Rank may not change. However, as you sell and as your product grows in popularity, you will often see an increase to the sales Rank.
