Incorrect Categorization of My Product - Tagged in "Skin lightening and whitening products"

Hi everyone,

I recently received a notification from Amazon regarding compliance documents required for one of my listings. The issue is that my product has been flagged under the category of "Skin lightening and whitening products." This is confusing because my product DOES NOT have any properties related to skin lightening or whitening.

To provide some context, my product is a soap made only from Goat's Milk, Bees Wax, Honey, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Shea Butter. None of these ingredients are associated with skin lightening, and they certainly don't violate Amazon's policies. Additionally, there is no mention of "Skin lightening and whitening products" or "melanin" anywhere in my listing—whether in the description, images, or any other part of the content.

I've reviewed Amazon's policies, specifically the section on skin lightening and whitening products, and my product clearly doesn't fall into this category. The policy states that these products work by reducing melanin in the skin, and Amazon prohibits products that contain mercury or similar substances. My product doesn't contain any of these, nor does it have such effects.

I'm reaching out here to see if anyone else has encountered a similar issue and how it was resolved. I've already requested Amazon to review my listing and correct this error, but I'm hoping for some advice or insight from others who might have gone through the same process.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello @Seller_QG60zqrQVk8VZ- thanks for looking to the forums for some guidance on this topic.

I was able to take a look through your provided Case IDs and the involved ASINs, and do see your submission to remove this classification for your products is currently under review. Reviews of this nature can take some time, but please do look to your Account Health Dashboards for updates from our team when they complete their review.

In looking at the ASINs, there might be some changes you can make to help support the desired classification. First, removing the terminology 'dark spot remover' from the title or product details will help illustrate the product wouldn't be intended to be used as a skin lightening product. Next, you may also wish to review this page on prohibited product claims, as Amazon prohibits the sale of products that imply or claim to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent diseases in humans or animals without FDA approval. You can see some examples on that page, but claims to cure other diseases not listed may also impact a listing.

Finally, you may want to look through this breakdown from the forums team on bullet point best practices, as it does indicate that emoji usage can take away from the clear, concise language shoppers need to understand a product offering.

I hope this information proves useful, and please do let me know if I can help answer any other questions when the compliance review is completed, thanks!
