So, this is one of my weirdest returns.
Sold an item for $680. It was originally a limited edition color the manufacturer decided to make a regular collection color. Basically everyone sold out by January and the new stock didn’t arrive in the US until very late June.
July 4th: Sold item, ship by the 6th. Deliver by July 13th.
July 5th: Shipped UPS with signature required. (It was 680 bucks! Yes, I’m making it sig required.)
July 13th: Arrives at destination and signed for.
July 23rd: Return requested. Reason Code: “Item Arrived Too Late.”
So… it arrived on July 13th with proof. That’s a SAFE-T claim for an inaccurate reason code right there, I’ll get my return shipping back at least.
Then I read the buyer comment:
wasn’t supposed to arrive until August, tried to cancel a month ahead of delivery, found out it had already shipped! shipping estimates need to be accurate…
So, I got a “Item arrived too late” for an item that arrived on time but the customer feels arrived a month early. They also never requested to cancel an order nor contacted us for any other reason.
So yes, I delivered on time and that’s apparently bad.
Anyone else having weird returns lately?
You should have charged the buyer a restocking fee of 20% as it’s clearly a change of mind return.
