Your account will be auto-enrolled into automated handling time

On July 29th, I received an email message from Amazon with the subject "Your account will be auto-enrolled into automated handling time."

A abbreviated version of the message contents:

"On September 25, 2024, your handling time gap will be measured, and if it remains above two days as per our policy for on-time delivery, you will be auto-enrolled into having automated handling time enabled and will no longer be able to disable automated handling time. Automated handling time will set accurate handling times for each of your seller-fulfilled offers. When automated handling time is enabled, your ship-by date will be automatically adjusted for every SKU based on the actual time it has historically taken you to pack and ship confirmed orders of that SKU. With this upgrade your offers will have an accurate delivery date, which is normally shorter and more appealing to buyers, typically resulting in more sales."

Amazon previously activated this feature in the past, without notice, and without our permission, in which the automated handling time caused issues with the Late Shipment Rate (LSR) policy. Every day, we upload an inventory file that matches our estimated production schedule. DO NOT ALLOW AUTOMATED HANDLING TO BE ACTIVE ON OUR ACCOUNT.

Jeff needs to stop parading around on his boat for a couple months and start paying attention to the idots making stupid decisions for his company.

It's absurd. The automated handling time would do me in, too. I am now having to intentionally delay shipping orders to make sure my handling time gap doesn't go over 2.

I suggest you read the notice about how if you fall below 90% on this metric you lose your account. This is going to kill a bunch of us.

We have received same email. And the message also has following message:

"As Amazon will manage your handling time when automated handling time is enabled, your seller-fulfilled listings will not be deactivated if your late shipment rate (LSR) does not meet the LSR policy requirement."

Does that mean LSR no longer affect our account health when automated handling time force enabled by Amazon?

"Your account has a gap of two days or more between your set handling time and your actual handling time."

This is completely wrong. I have a two day handling time set and ship the next day. That a ONE DAY handling time. It is mathematically impossible for ONE DAY TO BE EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN two days.

"On September 25, 2024, your handling time gap will be measured, and if it remains above two days as per our policy for on-time delivery, you will be auto-enrolled into having automated handling time enabled and *will no longer be able to disable automated handling time.* " !!!!

Whenever AHT has been reset against my will, I no longer can select Media Mail on Amazon Shipping for orders to the East Coast and have to buy shipping outside the system, losing my shipping protections from Amazon. This decision puts me in jeopardy for no reason. In 20 years there has been only one late arrival; during Covid (and I got a 5 star feedback from the buyer for keeping them informed about the delay).

This is an outrage. Something has gone terribly wrong with the oversight of this system.

I just got this email also. What is going on with Amazon these days? If they don't want us here they should just say so.

Dear Seller... looks like you are shipping your items 2 or so days early... GREAT JOB!!! NOW YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALL THE TIME!!!

We have our handling time setup to fit our business and LIVES... for our own reasons...let us be.

Amazon needs to direct the attention to other areas and LEAVE this alone, if the buyers want it faster they have the option to choose the other sellers.

This will destroy some of us.

Got this email too.

Amazon continues to make things needlessly difficult for sellers. When I accidentally turned on the auto handling a while back, it changed my handling time to 1 day and I sell custom items! So I had one day to make a custom item and ship it the very next day?! Customer support unhelpfully told me there was nothing I could do, but at least then, I could turn the auto handling OFF.

Does amazon not understand that some sellers have longer handling times because we may have to try to contact buyers because of issues in the custom info they provide (such as suspected typos), and not many buyers do not check their email and may take days to reply?

So now, I'll have to delay shipping orders too, to make sure the gap in handling time is not over 2 days. I also changed my order handling capacity to a low number, just in case they force the switch on me.

But sellers should not have to do all these stupid tricks if amazon will just leave us well enough alone! Sellers know what handling time works for us, and we should be the ones to decide what that is, not amazon who knows nothing about our business, and especially sellers making custom products.

From what I have read, setting order handling capacity will give you an extra day after it is reached. I'm setting it at "1", so most of the time I should get 2 days

They really need to just let us do our thing and stop forcing stuff to make these ridiculous changes. Our company is VERY short-handed, and doing something like this, especially with the holiday season right around the corner, is just shooting all of us in the foot.

Don't bother contacting seller support, either. They told me there is no way to opt out. Comply with their new "policy" or you'll be auto-enrolled in automated handling times with no way to disable it. When I tried to ask further questions, they just disconnected the chat, so I essentially got hung up on. After years of selling (and buying) on Amazon, I guess it's time to go elsewhere. It's awful.
