Our products are being targeted by fake negative reviews!

by Seller_SgMlOjtsKcroZ

Hello everyone,

We are a new Amazon FBA seller and we were excited to quickly acquire the "Amazon's Choice" label on 1-2 of our products. However, very recently we have been experiencing a serious problem with fake negative reviews on our products. It appears that an unknown competitor individual or group is purchasing our products under undeliverable addresses and leaving negative reviews on the product page.

The most concerning thing is that they are somehow able to leave a product review even when the product never actually got into their hands, leading to them getting a full refund. This falsely shows their review as a "verified purchase”. We believe that this individual or group is using outsourced reviewers or bots to execute this fraudulent activity. They are creating reviews of certain details that do not relate with our product at all. That in itself should prove as being fake/completely random.

We have noticed that some of these fake accounts have a pattern. The majority of them are newly created accounts and they only negatively review other competitors, consisting of the same ASINs! This proves that this is not just us getting attacked but also other sellers, by this very same individual/group.

As a new seller, we take great pride in our products and have always worked hard to provide high-quality items and excellent customer service. However, these fake reviews are damaging our reputation and reducing customer confidence in our products.

We have already reported this issue to Amazon and requested an investigation. However, we wanted to reach out to the community and ask for any advice or suggestions on how to deal with this problem. Have any of you experienced a similar issue? If so, how did you address it? We would appreciate any help or insights that you can provide.

We also wanted to raise awareness about this issue and encourage other sellers to be vigilant about fake negative reviews. If you notice any suspicious activity on your product pages, please report it to Amazon immediately. Together, we can work to prevent this type of fraudulent behavior and maintain the integrity of the Amazon marketplace.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,

LEOBEN COMPANY

Amazon dont care they are making money and that is top priority otherwise a company this size could have easily overhauled all their rating systems with a snap of a finger long long ago like 5k posts ago. How many posts have their been on this issue fake reviews along with feedback issues. Unless there is also a CUSTOMER FEEDBACK SYSTEM that is implemented so sellers can rate customers and block bad ones dont hold your breath for any change.

Looks like the reviews on your items is subjective. I guess you got too many people purchasing with zero sense of smell from smoking (cigs or pot) or covid.

Your characterization of some scents as masculine may be the source of the attacks as it is considered sexist in this cancel culture.

Hello @Stevie_Amazon

We encountered the same problem,The competitors contacted buyers to provide them with edited negative reviews and defective product images . Then the buyer placed order of our item, when they received our product, the buyer request a return, and write bad comment with defective product image,The funny thing is that their negative reviews completely do not match our product, and it is easy to find that the images reviews are not our product, but the product of competitors. (although our product are similar, but it is still can be distinguished).what's more,we checked the buyer's homepage only 2 reviews,One is the 1 star reviews left to our item, and the other one is a 5-star positive comment for the competitors' item,We provided Amazon with evidence that the image reviews left by customers were not our products, but there was no any follow-up."

We have evidence to proved that was fake reviews, but Amazon never take action.

Same thing is happening to us, and we quickly realized that Amazon doesn't really seem to care about fake negative reviews. And this not caring and the inability for sellers to do anything, is what is making the fake negative review "business" thrive; whether it's a competitor hiring someone to do a fake negative review to hurt you, or just a person writing a fake negative review to get paid off to delete it.

We even had 1 person buy the product once, return it to write a 1 star review and feedback, then buy it again two weeks later to write another negative feedback because the first one was crossed out by Amazon.

Then another person, "surprisingly" from the same state and area bought it and wrote a similar review as the first person. Again, surprisingly with the same penmanship (capitalization, wording, etc.)

Funny thing is that it is so obvious to prove that their reviews are fake because everything negative that they mention can be debunked by product testing, as I wrote this many times to Amazon, but no reply as if they don't care.

You can be an honest seller with a good product, and all it takes are a few negative reviews to get your product sales to come to a halt.

Thanks for your post. the same thing seems to be happening to us. It is quite obvious when we never get 1 star reviews, and then in a span of three days we get a bunch of 1 star reviews. also obvious when they review all but one product in our category. Our product is not the best thing since sliced bread.... but these one star reviews are clearly fabricated. Has anyone had any luck getting these investigated by Amazon??
