Read onlyOur listings are being unfairly targeted by 2 individuals who have never purchased a product from us, they just don't like the content of our product(s). The reviews are ridiculous and clearly fake (not verified purchases), making claims like, "This pint glass makes everything taste horrible", or "I bought this to celebrate my ideals but yuck, this glass leaves a bad taste in your mouth, eluding it is due to the statement and character printed on the glass, but Amazon isn't doing anything about it. I explained this was not a creditable review and it was not a "verified" purchase, and the Amazon agent told me reviewers can purchase the product anywhere (off-Amazon- on the seller's web store or brick-and-mortar) and then leave their review on Amazon. We are the brand and this is our product, and it is exclusive to Amazon. We don't sell these on our other websites, we don't wholesale these select products. They are ONLY sold on Amazon. The designs are literally drawn by our artist and the finishing touches are made by our graphics dept.
These phonies are devaluing our brand and unduly influencing buyers not to click or buy our products. The most recent review was left on a new item that was (organically) ranked top 20, now we have to start over again and work for vine reviews and pay more in ads. Thousands of dollars in lost sales and more money to try and salvage, only to have them do it again.
Amazon claims they care about fake reviews citing, "Amazon uses machine learning models and expert investigators to prevent fake reviews from being seen by customers", and signs of fake reviews are "Reviews on specific dates: Multiple reviews on the same day can be a sign of a fake review campaign". Our products were hit by the same person, on the same day! By their ommissions, these reviews are likely FAKE. Moreover, the products hit are only sold on Amazon, yet the reviewer did not have a verified purchase!
Amazon only seems to care if it's a seller buying reviews or leaving a glowing review on their own product. It looks like our only option is to contact our attorney and sue the fake reviewer for defamation. This requires that the statement satisfies the following elements; It was a false statement- check, It was published to a third party (someone other than the person who brought the case)- check, It was made as a statement of fact, rather than opinion- check, it injured the reputation of the defamed party- check, It was not a privileged or confidential review- check..
This will require more money and time but someone has to do something. It's unfair and these people are affecting our livelihood. No one from Amazon has stepped to do what they claim to do, which is to just take a few moments to actually investigate and prevent phony reviews. If that doesn't happen, we'll have to go after them ourselves, suing them for defamation, get a cease and desist order, and hopefully recover damages and attorney fees. We shouldn't have to do this, Amazon is supposed to maintain review standards. Has anyone else gone the legal route? Trying again with Amazon but wondering what to do if we don't get help from Amazon.
