Read onlyCustomer ordered Friday, shipping is required on Monday, fine... But it has to be delivered by Tuesday????? IMPOSSIBLE, only shipping options are 45-75$ !!!! Hysterically stupid @KJ_Amazon ...Our solution was to buy a cheap label, refund the order and still send the sample for free, as there is no way the mail would get there by tuesday, and we are NOT paying the cost to get hit with metrics.. we do NOT have same day handling selected, nor do we offer next day shipping. WHAT GIVES?
Item subtotal:$8.00..

Do you allow automation on the template associated with that listing. Do you allow automation for handling time.
Or perhaps a better way to ask -- has Amazon taken over your handling time / templates?
The issue would lie within your shipping template and/or how you set up your shipping preferences.
On this order, Amazon used FedEx Home Delivery to calculate the estimated deliver by date which Amazon believes would get there in one day.
If you use USPS Ground Advantage (less than 1lb), it would be best to set your shipping templates up as USPS Ground Advantage (less than 1lb) as the preferred method of shipping and NO additional other shipping methods as preferred.
Amazon will then calculate your orders based on USPS Ground Advantage (less than 1lb) which will give you a longer deliver by date. You can still use other shipping services that will still meet the deliver by date (like FedEx or UPS) if you need to.
Other variables:
We didn't see this when we first replied so let us re-reply for you.
With AHT, Amazon is constantly recalculating your handle time by item. If you have handle time set at 2 days at item level and it is the first time making a sale, then Amazon will use the 2 day handle time. If you ship this order with a 2 day handle time early (on day one), then the next time that item has an order it will be a one day handle time. If the item sales fast enough and you have 5 orders at 2 day handle time and you ship 4 of them as 2 day and 1 of them as 1 day, then the average will be still be a 2 day handle time. When it is a slow seller and you get just one order and ship it early, then you are setting that item up to be a one day handle time. The way to avoid this is to always ship on the last ship by date on the order following a 2 day handle time process.
Now with that being said ... when you have AHT enabled, you are protected against a last shipment metric hit. So if you get a one day handle time order and it is on AHT, you should ship it as a 2 day (one day late) to reset the Amazon AHT calculation. However ... beware, that in doing so, you will loose INR protection for that one order. If you don't have INR issues, then it is worth doing this to re-establish the two day handle time.
With SSA, the best way we found to set it up and have it work consistently is to have one template set up for items 1lb or less and another template set up for items over 1lb. We suggest on the SSA template to NOT use Economy, 2 day, 1 day or same day options as these options are not covered under the OTDR protection. Set up your template(s) for use with only Standard shipping to maintain OTDR protection.
When setting up the template for less than 1lb items, set the preferred shipping to USPS Ground Advantage (less than 1lb) only. Do not select additional preferred shipping methods.
When setting up the template for greater than 1lb items, set the preferred shipping to USPS Ground Advantage / Cubic only. Do not select additional preferred shipping methods.
Doing this will cause Amazon to use either USPS Ground Shipping (less that 1lb) or USPS Ground Advantage / Cubic for your transit calculation and you should have the ability to ship as such on all orders. If you wanted to ship an order using another service like UPS or FedEx, you still will be able to as long as the service selected meets the estimated deliver by date.
You also need to make sure that all of your items are assigned to your SSA template(s). If you have templates set up that you are not using, you might consider deleting them to avoid accidentally assigning an item to it (them).
Because you have AHT and SSA enabled, we would have shipped as USPS Ground Advantage (less than 1lb) and waited to see if the customer respond on the delivery time. If they did, then ok ... do the refund. If they didn't, then just make sure all future orders follow the 2 day handle time process when shipping so that AHT will learn that as the handle time for your orders.
Hope this helps.
