PRIME is NO LONGER what it used to be!

As a buyer, “I’ve lost that lovin feeling” about Prime. They are delivering late or miss-delivering(Amazon delivery service) too often,
along with packaging that’s inappropriate for the size, weight, or various items being shipped together.

I’d be interested in hearing from those who do FBA to see if they find this to be a trend or I just have bad luck.

For the first time ever, I’m considering cancelling my Prime membership.

I canceled mine a few years back. They offer nothing that cannot found elsewhere for less. Since their #1 competitor is busy ringing the bell with 2 day free shipping that even makes Prime 2 day shipping moot. And, on top of that NO STRINGS for free shipping!!

I renewed my subscription a few months back because I was building a gaming rig and wanted same and next day shipping. Out of the 12 or so orders I’ve placed, 10 arrived late.

Additionally as an FBA seller I find that a large number of items I sell arrive damaged due to poor packaging. This has been an ongoing trend and it probably won’t get better.

I am a Prime member too, sometime my delivery takes 4,5 or more days to get to me

We choose to not renew our Prime 15 months ago as well. Its not worth it. And even without the Prime, the Over packaging is RIDICULOUS !! I got this large package in the mail 2 weeks ago, it was 3 feet long and 1 foot wide. I was was shocked to find the 2 dog collars I had ordered inside and nothing else. What a waste. They could have put those in a padded envelope !! Their packaging department needs to be overhauled.

I cancelled mine years ago because shipping was taking forever. Their excuse was ‘Sometimes it happens’. I wasn’t paying for a service that didn’t do what it says. I don’t use any of the other Prime stuff either. I found you still had to pay extra for some of that stuff too.

Becoming increasingly discouraged by all the refunds Amazon customer service is having to issue because of the package arrived late(FBA shipping 2 day guaranteed in now laughable.) Also get a 1/2 inch by 3 inch returned in 12-36 inch box… Nothing like it use to be… Prime plus the monthly subscription is not paying off at all for about the past year. Carefully reviewing FBA sales on feasibility of continuing FBA. Good luck but not at all Hopeful for a turnaround…

I can can I feel the same way. As my inventory is trickling away, I am no longer sending items to FBA. Missed shipping metrics. Products not packaged correctly. And the buyers think its our fault and leave feedback that is striked out but still visible like we had something to do with it. Sadly before FBA we zero complaint about items damaged upon arrival, returns, or not as described. With FBA I feel that 10% of our sales fall in this category now. Not sure if you get a different customer base when you participate, but things we never had as a company, now pop up to the point that it is almost comical. Its great for sales, but the headache that comes with it. We just decided it is better for our business model to just do what we have done in the past.

To still differentiate declining Prime service from the regular “free” delivery service they have turned that “free” service into a netherworld of endless “preparing for shipment” messages. It you order more than one item in a combined order it sits for days in “preparing for shipment” status. I’ve patiently waited 7-10 days on several recent orders before canceling and ordering from someone operating in my version of reality. Each time I have tried to cancel they first auto reply warn that it may not be possible to cancel because it is being prepared for shipment, when that does not deter me and I cancel it immediately confirms that the cancellation was successful, so “preparing for shipment” is really code for “your order is being ignored until we decide to get around to it”.

On the flip side what is bad for the buyer is good for the merchant fulfilled seller (especially those on the bay) as the horrible Amazon shipping time gives other sellers (except those stupid enough to still ship by DHL) a considerable competitive advantage. Almost all my positive feedbacks this year have come from the speed of the shipping, apparently buyer expectations in that area have hit a new low.

Yup. I was excited to earn Prime Shipping. Then I got it. I was not shipping any faster than before but the fees were unmanageable just for Prime Logo. Much easier to just use free shipping wherever possible.

I live close to a major city/hub and multiple warehouses are located fairly close to me. I very rarely end up with Prime items taking more than 2 days (unless I choose no-rush for the digital credits…but even then it comes faster than estimated most of the time).

I can often get items with free next or same day delivery (on orders over $35). It is not unusual for me to get up in the morning and decide I want something, order it, and get it before the end of the day. More and more often my Prime orders are delivered by AMZL or Amazon Flex drivers.

I get a discounted Prime Student membership (I believe it is about $50 per year), and utilize Prime Video a lot. I won’t be getting rid of Prime anytime soon.

I do agree about the poor packing for shipment. At times I will get a box with something fragile and something heavy rolling around loose with just a couple air pillows. Some employees (or robots) need a refresher course on how to package shipments so everything arrives intact.

I had been avoiding seller fulfilled merchants because of past hassles with returns and refunds for items that were not as described or damaged during shipment, such as a book listed as “new” with globs of whiteout covering a remainder mark on the top of the pages. The whiteout glued pages shut and the book was not “new”. The seller denied a return request, just closing it. I ended up having to file an A-Z claim to get my money back. That is not the only time I had a seller try to deny a return request. Now with the prepaid return labels, I am considering occasionally ordering SF items again.
