Lost used books

Hello all,

Amazon has now lost over 70 of my inbound books, many of which are textbooks intended to sell during the summer season. All of these are sent FBA with partnered shipping (UPS). Of course, they want invoices and proof of purchase...for USED books. I did have an invoice from a local business that supplied me with 18 of these books. I submitted it, and they still refuse the invoice. It meets all the requirements from their documentation page. I don't know what else they're looking for in terms of a supplier. This company has been in business 20 years, has a website, and operates exclusively in the distribution of books.

I've explained my scenario over the phone twice, and email 3 times. I get ZERO help. How can this company gladly sell your used books with no proof of purchase, and then when they lose it, demand the impossible?

There must be 10s of millions of used books being sold, and there is no policy in place to protect the seller if Amazon is the one who loses the inventory. My boxes were even scanned in weighing 47 and 48 pounds, and they still deny me any reimbursement. The value of this lost inventory is easily over $1200.

Has anyone ever had any sort of acceptable response from amazon on an issue like this?

Thanks for taking the time to raise this here on the forums, as you mentioned Used book historically have represented a challenge for FBA sellers, as they often aren't able to meet the guidelines for sourcing inventory as outlined in this Seller University video.

That being said, are you able to provide me with the most recent Seller Support case number you have for these missing units? I would like to escalate the issue to see what can be done. Thank you in advance!
