First of all I never cry wolf over bad reviews. I've been selling on Amazon since 2017 and know all products receive bad reviews for whatever reason
Recently we spent a lot of time, money, etc on improving our listing/PPC for a certain product. We recently improved sales so much we became #1 in this product category
All of a sudden I receive a review from a new Amazon buyer account where our product has clearly been lit on fire and wet. Please note our product is also not electronic. It is made of stainless steel.
Our product is packaged in clear plastic. The plastic along with the product has clearly been set on fire and then wet. The "customer" wrote a 1 star review with pictures and said their skin burned when trying to clean it of a "substance." The package isn't even open. The picture clearly was an attempt to make the product as displeasing as possible
The customer has not requested a refund even after we politely offered a full refund. They have not processed a refund or return with Amazon directly
This product is FBA and if this wasn't abuse that means someone at Amazon took a literal charred and wet item with even possibly the barcode burnt and pick/packed and shipped it to a customer. Impossible
I'm writing on seller forms because of course every department on Amazon has been 100% worthless and has either sent us a worthless auto message or refuses to address this review
I have literally contacted every single department possible countless times / reported abuse / etc
I need a mod that will help me escalate this

Your product has 2,269 reviews and it averages 4.8 stars.
As you know, people are insane.
One time, I received 21 reviews from the Vine program. All five stars.
One of these reviews was one star. Showing how the pen leaks with pictures.
Due to your overwhelmingly positive reviews and immense review count, I would strongly suggest to not even bother trying to remove this review. This can only have a positive effect on your sales as a perfect 5 star rating on your product is unrealistic and looks incredibly fake.
As a buyer, I see an overwhelmingly positive product. In an effort to find out more about your product, I would filter out all the reviews so I can only see the one star reviews. At that point, I would see the review of a crazy person who somehow managed to get rust on the item. I would buy it immediately once I conclude that only insane people rate it one star.
If you think that this was malicious, I do not see any clues that point to that. If I had to guess, your item was stored at an Amazon warehouse and fell on the floor by accident next to some oil that leaked out of a vehicle. Or, its possible that it was raining and your item fell on the floor and was quickly back on the shelves where it later developed rust.
A warehouse employee is not paid enough to care. Which I would assume resulted in the negative review.
Is it fair? No. Its clearly someone else's fault. Is it worth it to try and correct it? Also no. It can only benefit you.
Amazon would be a better place if sellers stood up to fraud and abuse instead of rationalizing like you have here. Just because we have good reviews doesn't mean we should allow clear fraud and abuse
It's clear fraud. It's a new buyer account that also left a 1 star review on another product on the same day. As mentioned too we recently beat out all the competition. The timing is too coincidental
If you look at the bottom of the product it is full of fresh water. Our packaging would need to be breached to fill it with water. Also the protective film packaging has not been undone. It has been clearly lit on fire and filled with water
The only other possibility is this was struck by lightning during a storm which would mean the outer pick/pack bag would be burnt/damaged too. Also the chances of a lightning strike are ridiculous. In that case too the customer would not write such a review in this way
This is fraud and I need a mod
Amazon also needs to fix all its worthless departments that deal with these issues
Good share and sorry to hear this happened. I've seen the same by others. Amz needs better governance over these issues, like a customer support team to evaluate and put these types of claims to a quick trial when its so black and white. We had a similar one, but not lit on fire. Nothing we could do?!?
I had one Amz rep. that was amazing, but it was 1 out of 50. If I get them or another again, I'll be sure to ask and share back with you.
Separately, love hearing you put the time into your listing and PPC. Are you open get some good karma and share what tactics you did to improve organic rankings, and even PPC?
Appreciated.
Seems like you have a great product and are being targeted. Sorry to hear this.
Having said that, it's likely Amazon won't do anything. They don't seem to care about review abuse even at the level you are describing.

take completely absurd negatives like this in stride. anyone reasonable will realize its a ridiculous bad review, and if anything, perfect 5s across the board are suspicious. when I get negative feedback, which is rare, they're usually so absurd that I can quip about them and I know it won't affect me. recently I even got one for sending someone EXTRA, FREE stuff they could've easily thrown away if they didn't want it (the listing was for an item that's part of the bundle and I thought I was being nice by just sending the entire bundle but apparently that was a big problem.)
