OUTRAGEOUS Return Shipping Adjustments

We just noticed where we are being hit with insane adjustments from UPS on returns... they are stating the package is 40lb's .. this is wrong.. the dimensions are correct, ;and we ship out with FEDEX no issue.. the packages are typically 5-10LB, never 40! it is not possible, nowhere in our listings info would UPS deduce these packages may weight 40lb.. the audited dimensions are correct, the weight is off by 85% on every return.

EVERY SINGLE RETURN WE ARE HIT WITH THIS CHARGE.. 64.49 to return an item we sold for 30$ ... WHAT IS GOING ON?

114-8188246-3989820 - THIS WAS A 30$ order, weigh 5lb and we were charge $64 TO RETURN??? WHATTT???T

111-2269214-9253040 ---- We purchased the label with correct sizes, how is it possible to be getting these adjustments ???

the list goes on and on...

These adjustments are present on every single return we have ever had, this is sickening

Bottom image is the item attributes and the weight!!!! its not 4!!0 pounds!!!

As far as SAFE-T goes, since we "issued a refund" we cannot file a claim for the return shipping cost.. EVERY SINGLE RETURN ITEM STATES IT WEIGHED 40LB.... every single one, how is this possible? that is 35 pounds heavier vs the package was shipped out on FEDEX..

The fabric is returned in the same plastic sleeve as it was shipped out in..... There is no logical reason why every single return no matter which the item, UPS states it weighs 40 pounds....

This needs escalated internally because every SAFE-F has been denied or not possible due to refund being issued by us! .. there are sometimes 2 or 3 individual adjustments on a single order.. many orders under 30$ end up costing us 100$... this is theft by UPS

Your cubic size is 504 cu inches

Note: Select the Additional Handling check box if your longest side exceeds 48 inches

I just created a sample from Texas to Colorado with your package info

This is what I get:

when the customer takes it to the UPS store, they add special handling and use "dimensional weight" and charge extra for the store fee....

If you don't use "simple rate" the cost doubles.

If it was 48 inches without special handling added, it would be $20

On UPS/USPS that's an extra charge for "unusual package"

I am receiving adjustments on all returns, I opened a case, and the response I received is as follows:

Customer Entered Dimensions: 10 X 7 X 4 IN Weight: 64 OZ Carrier Audited Dimensions: 10 X 7 X 4 IN Weight: 4 LB BaseRateCharge= 6.07, FuelCharge= 1.92, DeliveryAreaSurcharge= 5.70, PeakCharge= 0.50

BaseRateCharge= 6.07

I investigated order [114-8616082-0907443 ]. In this case the weight you entered for this order was [10 X 7 X 4 IN Weight: 64 OZ] and the carrier audited weight for this item is [10 X 7 X 4 IN Weight: 4 LB]. You were charged for the difference in package [weight OR dimensions choose one]. UPS will use the greater of actual weight or dimensional weight when charging for a shipping label. Dimensional weight is calculated by (LxHxW)/139 for returns and (LxHxW)/166 for outbound shipment. The billing charges in question are considered valid according to the carrier's surcharge policies, and Amazon Transportation does not reimburse Sellers for chargebacks due to carrier's dimensional weight, package size, package handling, or other policies. For more information visit Shipping costs for seller-fulfilled returns.

in this case they need to use actual weight!! I don’t understand the reason behind this issue, and I never get a proper response (just like in every other matter).

Yeah you're wrong on so many levels. Like stating its A "TUBE" and not a rectangle LOL - you're joking right that you think because its a tube that it doesn't have to abide by shipping cubic dimension rates.

LOL

This happened to me twice the last couple of months. $40+ chargebacks for postage returns each time. I could not find the shipping details page even with the Helpdesk's so-called help. I put in 5 tickets for resolution, with screenshots and everything, but no one responded. They charged me over $80 for shipping chargebacks, then deducted it from my checking account. My paltry $4 profit each on selling 20 books was all but eliminated. I am about to give up completely on Amazon and sell my books elsewhere. 90% of them are personal books about art, design, and crafts so I can hopefully move them over to my Etsy accounts. Amazon has gotten hostile towards their small business sellers in my view. I really needed the extra money as I am retired, and I put a lot of time into listing, and then preparing the books for shipping. What did I make for all those hours? Zero. I still have money due to me but deferred since January 2. All my books go out USPS Priority Mail or USPS Ground Advantage. There is no reason to hold someone's hard-earned money that long. Amazon, if you're listening, please help. Your Helpdesk is no help and submitting tickets is another time stealer, resulting in zero results!

we feel you... unfortunately this is the reality, and will likely get worse... they are pushing small sellers out of business organically by simply squeezing the m till there is no more juice left...

I think the only way around this is to offer return less refunds which I am seriously considering.

we now do this for our samples, and orders under 2 yards and under.. otherwise our fabric is simply too expensive to waste on free returns... we are just going to have to provide return labels we generate vs. allowing amazon to debit our account for the "price" of the return label.

PRL exemption not working, template ends up blank after a day

@Seller_KcEtz9Bkb8qhY I am following up on your question about requesting an exemption from prepaid return labels. I also responded in the above thread.

Prepaid returns for seller-fulfilled orders

You can request exemptions from prepaid return labels for SKUs in the category: "High-value items (price exceeding $100) that need special shipping (for example, items that require special shipping insurance)."

Yes.. i have done this... except the exemption works for a day. then its gone, and it is back to auto authorizing returns and pushing out insane priced labels..

For the below order, amazon issues TWO PRE PAID LABELS for ONE order number/one package... why would you need TWO labels for fabric shipped in one package.. both labels were $40 and i will get adjustments up to 75$ so we are out the ENTIRE COST OF THE ORDER and not including our LABOR.. this is ABSURD

Thanks

Hello @Seller_KcEtz9Bkb8qhY

I see that our partner team reached out to you in Case 17125255531 with an update on your request for exemptions from prepaid return labels.

I understand that it was not the response you were looking to receive, and that SKUs were not eligible for exemptions . If there were SKUs you believe were incorrectly denied in the following category, please let me know:

High price items: High-value items (price exceeding $100) that need special shipping (for example, items that require special shipping insurance)

ALL OUR ITEMS ON THE SHEET ARE OVER 100$, one yard of our fabric is 55$, two is 105... simple math.. the 1 yard are not in the file... also our packages are 57 inches by 8 inches x 8 inches.. this qualifies for oversized.. this is absurd and i do not have time or energy to keep arguing here.. amazon HAS BECOME A JOke..

you see your earnings today? stock collapsed outlook is terrrible. worst sales outlook in history of company.. keep the junk fees coming.. time has run out
