Hello Amazon Team

Dear Amazon Team,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the barcode requirements. I wanted to clarify a few points:

1. Barcode Ownership: Is it acceptable to use a manufacturer’s barcode for my products, or should I use a barcode under my own brand? If required, I have purchased ten barcodes of my own, which I can provide. However, if barcodes need to be registered under the manufacturer’s name, I am prepared to use the manufacturer’s barcode instead.

2. Product Specifications: I will provide all necessary product details, including photos, sizes, and specifications, as required.

3. Brand Usage: I intend to list products under my registered brand, ZamaridTech, while using barcodes associated with the manufacturer. Could you confirm if this approach is compliant with Amazon’s guidelines?

4. Product Details: If needed, I can also provide the product description, bullet points, and title.

I appreciate your guidance and support as I prepare for my first sale. Please let me know if any additional information is required.

Thank you,

Sher Allam Hashimi TechBag and Sole

Hi Sher Allam,

Great questions—it's smart to clarify these details before listing your products. Here are a few points that should help:

  1. GTIN (Barcode) Ownership: GTIN ownership is publicly accessible, so anyone can look up who registered a barcode. To avoid potential issues, it’s best to use barcodes you own when listing products under your brand name, ZamaridTech. Using a manufacturer’s barcode for products listed under your brand could cause conflicts. If these are private label products for ZamaridTech, your own barcodes are definitely the way to go.
  2. Avoiding Duplicate Listings: If the product you’re selling is already listed on Amazon with the manufacturer’s barcode, you should use that barcode to avoid creating duplicate listings. Having two ASINs for the same physical product would go against Amazon’s catalog policies.
  3. Brand Registry Requirement: Since you mentioned ZamaridTech as your brand, if you're planning to sell in Germany, it might be helpful to register the brand with the Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt (DPMA). This is a requirement for joining Amazon’s Brand Registry, which offers extra tools like A+ Content and brand protection features. I checked the DPMA database and didn’t find ZamaridTech listed, so registering the name may be a good next step if you haven’t done so already.

Wishing you the best with your launch!

Michael
