THIS IS BROKEN !!!
I totally agree with the OTDR fiasco.
I have been hit with them as well in the past month. In every case the situation has been the same:
Day 1, order comes in
Day 1, I pic, package, and deliver (across the street from my store) to the USPS office
Day 1, The postmaster, Billy (who is also my friend), logs in my package.
From then on it is totally out of my control. And, yet, if my package arrives at its destination a day late; I get punished for it.
And each time I sent Amazon's own OTDReport back to them to show the timeline and I get absolutely no follow up.
In drilling down on this further, I do notice one field on the Manage Orders screen that may be a clearer indication to a Seller that an order was in fact shipped with an SSA template implemented. Am I correct in thinking that if there is a box on the order page that says "Shipping Service Used to Calculate Delivery Promise", that is always a way to confirm that SSA is in fact implemented on that order?
Hello @Seller_xFV4JULZU1MtP The "Shipping Service used to calculate..." shows that Shipping Settings Automation (SSA) is enabled for a particular order. I will confirm if it is a 100% indicator.
Those badges specifically refer to the shipping label purchased.
For both Claims Protected and OTDR Protected shipping labels there are other factors and seller requirements that determine whether the order/shipment is protected.
To give an example: a seller can purchase a 'Claims Protected" shipping label, but if they don't actually ship the order our until after the ship-by date, it will not be protected from an A-to-Z Claim. The full requirements are shown as a mouse-over for those badges and in multiple news announcements and help pages.

Effective September 25, 2024, you'll need to maintain a minimum 90% OTDR without promise extensions to have seller-fulfilled products listed on Amazon.com. Please let me know if you have any additional questions about OTDR.
THE ONLY SOLUTION AND THING THAT WORKS IS THAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS MAKE SURE THE ITEM IS DELIVERED ON TIME . THE DATE ON ORDER PAGE THAT SAYS DELIVER BY.
THIS IS YOUR ONLY HOPE . SPEND MORE MONEY ON SHIPPING AND LESS PROFIT. TRY TO GET IT DELIVERED A DAY BEFORE THE DATE AND LOSE MONEY .
THIS IS THEIR PLAN OR SIGN UP FOR SSA AND ENABLE THE OTHER FEATURE SO YOU ARE UNDER CONTROL AND STRESSED OUT EVEN MORE.
Amazon knows that it is broken. The whole point of this new policy is to terrorize sellers into spending more money for faster shipping methods.
Amazon is insisting that us third party sellers operate as charities now.
The badges really do seem to throw everyone off. Is it safe to conclude that if the "Delivery Promise" section is missing from an order, a Seller can conclude that order is NOT covered for protections, regardless of the presence of the protected badges?
Hello @Seller_xFV4JULZU1MtP I reached out to our partner team and confirmed that the two orders you contacted support about did not have Shipping Settings Automation (SSA) enabled and that the "Shipping Service used to calculate..." notice is the best indicator as to whether SSA was enabled.
The team appreciates your suggestion about showing the OTDR badge only for shipments that had SSA/AHT enabled. SSA is template-based. You can read more about that program in our help page.
