TLDR: If you produce your own products and offer a warranty on them, be warned there is a new bot on the loose that is stripping bullet points, images, and product descriptions that mention or use the word "Warranty". Affected listings are usually sent to "search suppressed" status, but not always.
Amazon did not announce this. (it would have been nice to know ahead of time!) We had easily 1/3 of our listings impacted so far, and the number is still jumping. The errors are vague and nearly impossible to know how to fix from the error alone - it flags bullet point 1 as the problem - when it could be anywhere in any of the bullet points that you have mentioned a warranty.
I only discovered this through two *FULL* days of trial and error in editing my items that I *thought* were flagged by the plants/seeds glitch. (seller support kept stating I had to appeal, and unless I was compliant with the policies, I couldn't get my details back onto the PDP. They didn't offer any real support about this at all)
When I was beginning to lose my mind I remembered that I did have some errors originally a few months ago and was told specifically that the use of the term "Warranty" was no longer permitted in the product description. At that time I edited all of my descriptions but left the bullet point warranty details alone as this was specifically stated as the place to put this information. I also left the warranty detail header text visible in image 3 of my PDP.
this past week has been hell trying to figure out why so many of my products were flagged and suppressed. Once I remembered the issue from a few months ago, I simply cleared the word warranty from bullet point 5. Voila! Description error fixed, bullet point 1 error fixed, etc. Put the word warranty in another area - yup, all errors are back, flagging these fields that are completely unrelated to the actual issue. OH - and for the record - there is NOTHING on the PDP rules page that says ANYTHING about the word "warranty" being forbidden or a flaggable offense. (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/200390640?ref=ss_ahd_pp_list_pol)
So - I grumpily edited all bullets and rechecked descriptions then sent up my flat file. 100% fail. All the failures revolved around image 3 of my PDP - the image that contained a header stating the warranty length. Removed that image - everything is fine now. Except my customers don't have any idea what kind of warranty they're getting with their purchase.
It's been like this for some time, I'd say at least two or three years because I ran into the same issue.
"Third party sellers are unable to add warranty information to detail pages since all sellers of a product may not be able to adhere to warranty specifics. Customers will instead have to work directly with the manufacturer after the 30 day window has closed."
Same issue happens with the word "Savings"
anyone have list of words that trigger the bot
