Handmade Issue

I have been doing sponsored ads for more than a month with a very low impression number and without almost any clicks at all. The ads are not spending any of my allocated daily budgets regardless of high bid numbers and the ads are not even coming out when we search for the products specifically ourselves and using different accounts.

I used to sell same products quite well before I switched to the "Handmade" category and they were selling very fast. After our brand became "Handmade", all of a sudden the ads stopped performing and all sales came to a halt.

I reached out to Amazon support to get help however they are not helping me out and looking into this properly. I feel like i am beating around the bush for one month with no help. Is someone here having the same issue? Is it related to being handmade brand?

Appreciate your views and feedback on this. Thank you.

I’ve sold on handmade since launch day many many years ago and up until 2023 I never had to run ads, coupons, etc. In my case since I was approved for brand registry I’ve needed all the help I can get to be seen on here. It’s like the brand approval turned off my shop and this was back in February of 2023 when it all started and it hasn’t really picked back up since. Even during my busy season (Christmas) I was not nearly as busy as any other Christmas I had sales running, free shipping, and ads running. In my experience, ads are very hit or less but mostly miss, for me. I’ve played with all sorts of ads on here and adjust bids, keywords, negative keywords, bidding types, etc. Some days my spend will slightly double my sales from the ads while most days I end up in the red. I just can’t figure them out. On some my budget is rarely used and on some my budget is ate up in hours. Some even have zero spending. It’s really weird and I just don’t get it. So, I guess sorry I’m of no help here but I did want to respond to let you know that you’re not the only one experiencing this issue.

If you are not brand registered, your name, if it was previously listed as the brand, will switch to Handmade on your listing. Amazon, used to give brand waiver to the handmade artisons but now they have changed their mind and make you get trademarked before you can say you are a brand. This is doable but it costs a lot. For some handmade artisons, including myself, it is not in my budget at this time. The term handmade is better than generic though, in my opinion.

If you are a small business with just a few listings it is hard to compete on Amazon. You have to think out of the box to promote your items. There are many ways to do this without it costing you anything. Do you have a pinterest board or a facebook page? You can copy the URL of your listing and add it to these.

Who are the people that would buy your items? I found your items in the Handmade category. Some of the possible buyers for your pretty velvet bows that I thought of would be brides, bridesmaids, flower girls and even teenagers looking for accessories for their prom gowns. Locally, I would go around to shops that sell bridal gowns and prom dresses and leave a sample with your card. There also will probably be a facebook group that destashes bridal gowns and prom dresses. Some destash groups will allow you to put links to your items. Another group of possible buyers for your items would be beauty pageant contestants. They spend a lot on their gowns and accessories.

Prom season is coming up. Do you know any teens that could model your bows? It may be worthwhile to give them a few samples. They might wear them to school and take selfie pics for their social media. Once their friends see them wearing them they could become a trend and you would get lots of sales just from them.

Hope these suggestion help a little!
