USPS is NOT reliable, cannot meet delivery window. BEWARE

Been a seller for a year, we run our own warehouse and were SFP, this until the “buy shipping” came around… Slowly our metrics dropped off the map, orders slowed, then we booted off SFP, then eventually booted off premium shipping…

Mind you we have 0% cancelations, 100% valid tracking, 0% late shipment rate… nearly 5 star ratings (of those who actually leave feedback).

That said, circling back to buy shipping… USPS IS 100% unreliable and why would amazon offer 2 day labels, when USPS package is picked up on time (2x a day from our facility) YET on the delivery end, THEY NEVER MEET THE window… THUS WE, the SELLER is penalized for buying (OVER PRICED) shipping from AMAZON!.. SO now we are booted down into who knows what (orders non existent, spending 500$ a day, dominating buy box, destroying competitors in price) BUT no PRIME no Premium shipping offered? IT’s total nonsense.

SO beware, don’t use USPS ever for anything… 9$ to ship a package that is late? ABSURD… The shipping report showed literally the only orders no “On Time Delivered” were USPS packages, picked up on time… WHY is amazon not realizing this? And then punishing sellers for issues 100% out of our control… we bust our TAILS to get packages ready to be picked up in time, then USPS drops ball. our business suffers and amazon doesn’t care a bit…

MIND YOU, we were one of the first sellers to link our pre-negotiated FEDEX and UPS API’s into amazon’s “buy shipping” system… So amazon know’s we have the manpower and facility/$$$ to meet shipping needs… If Amazon cared, you would think someone from amazon would reach out and help a seller who spends 100k$ a year on advertising, and buying of USPS labels (never again), and a participate in pilot programs, and we are a REGISTERED Trademarked brand…

ABOUT TIRED OF THIS wasting thousands of dollars a month on advertising of listings only to be hurt further by these absurd metric hurdles…

Good riddance Amazon.

Whatever troubles you have experienced with USPS, the above is patently absurd.

Somehow I don’t quite buy all of your “perfect angel, never did anything wrong, we’re one of Amazon’s best sellers” claims when the first thing you say is you’ve been here a (whole whopping) year. It’s weak to blame your problems on USPS when you’re the one who chose them as a carrier, knowing you have UPS or FedEx as options. Especially since you claim USPS is “100% unreliable” – meaning you’ve never had a single USPS package delivered on time???

We are fully aware, as order #'s fall, the threshold for falling below amazon’s shipping metrics becomes tighter… So say orders drop to 10 in a week, if just 4 of these are (not late, but do not meet “on time delivery”) you are at 67%, which is 20% below the 97% threshold… So if amazon kills your pipeline for orders, even if you are spending to advertise listings, you already have major hurdles to jump over before you can even get back into these programs… We are a 10 million dollars a month brick and mortar business, dealing with this petty crap with Amazon is nearly absurd.

Yeah so what, so is FedEx, UPS, and wait until you need to ship LTL.

FedEx even snuck a clause into our rate contact EXPLICITLY stating that will not guarantee deliver for 1,2, 3 day shipping orders.

It might be a crazy idea, but did you ever try doing some research to find a shipping method that met the requirements more than 0% of the time?

FedEx and UPS both have excellent ground coverage that work very well for SFP.

If you have strong negotiated rates, I would wonder why you would struggle with USPS and sfp. It is not that USPS is unreliable, it is simply that it is often not a good match with sfp.

If I had to guess, if you go back and look at all your USPS late deliveries, I would wager the majority shipped on Mon through early wednesday. These are the most problematic days for USPS when used for SFP shipments.

We don not seen to have the same problem. We do not use SFP and ship within 2 hours of receiving the order. We use Amazon purchased USPS shipping and products usually arrive prior to the first date of the delivery window. :train2:

I just checked mine. 100% on time. 81 of those 85 orders were USPS.

on time

I’d have to say that you have your shipping templates set incorrectly.

I have 1-2 day handling set up.

For standard shipping, I have 3-5 days for zones 1-4 and 4-8 days for zones 5-9.

I don’t even feel a rush to get things out the door. Sometimes, I will buy the shipping the evening of the 2nd day and USPS picks up the next day and things are still on time.

Neither of these matter. While 0% late shipping is part of it, if your shipping templates are set with appropriate transit time, there really shouldn’t be an issue with USPS.

Valutex_Fabric It is not all of USPS. You can not completely blame USPS for the issues and you need to work with your local Postmaster and Postal Rep to get it resolved. Take some personal responsibility in getting it fixed! I had a similar situation 2 years ago when I moved to a new location and I was not served out of the same Postal Unit. I networked with some other online retailer served by the same postal unit and found that we all were having a similar issue. I did a sampling of some of the problem orders and met with the postmaster and my postal rep together. I presented my finding where I thought the problem might lay in the postal unit and they went from there. The reason I included my postal rep was that I had worked with him for 4 prior years and he knew that I accounted a lot of my growth to the reliability of USPS. He backed me up! I found that the packages from the commercial route on a regular basis were not making the trucks that same day and not getting scanned correctly. 1 worker inside whom was in charge of getting things on the outbound trucks was slacking. The Stuff ups happened on the days she was assigned to the duties. There was a regular pattern to the issues. The Postmaster saw to getting it fixed. Since only a few problems have happened for us and they have all been in the main ATL processing center with packages that have gotten caught in conveyors, but they still made it on time to our customers. I have a less than 1% breakage rate with USPS (I ship a lot of glass) and a 99.9% on-time rate. I have a 10% breakage rate with UPS and with FedEx although their on-time rates are about the same.
Be proactive and get it fixed instead of sitting back and complaining. Amazon cares less on what happened so it will not get your prime issues resolved, but it will help you in the future. Going forward get your stats up and the privileges will be restored.
Good Luck!

I follow a general rule, ship it when you can, a lot can happen, for instance the power went out yesterday for a couple of hours, they were working outside on a pole and had to cut the power.

I might add I bring my packages to both UPS and USPS.
