Read onlyDoes Amazon get ISBN data from Bowker? I've been trying to list a book on Amazon via it's ISBN. I get error 8572, even though I'm copying the data exactly from Bowker Bookwire, the official source. I've contacted Amazon Seller support, and they've asked for documentation, which confuses me since ISBN data is publicly available. I've supplied the information, but still confused why the data isn't just pulled from the publicly available Bowker database into Amazon.
I've also contacted Bowker support and they have confirmed the information, as well as it's availability to Amazon.
As of current, I cannot get past the error or receive further details from support.
They've been insisting that I provide a GS1 certificate
Bowker states: There is no GS1 certification since the 978 or 979 of any ISBN is the GS1 certification that the number is dedicated to published material.
We bought two batches. The first batch can be used, but the second batch cannot be used.
Unserviceable items ( 978-1-960051-06-6, 978-1-960051-03-5, ......) We bought 100 ISBN codes in the second batch.
Please help us.
Well, that question does not need to be asked. Simply enter ISBN: (the number) in the Google browser. What did you get, your book or nothing. Amazon got the same when they tried it.
There have been multiple reports of Amazon wanting GS1 to certify an ISBN, which is absurd. This seems to have popped up in the last month or so.
I've not seen a resolution, but hopefully people just didn't update when things cleared up.
Please keep us updated on anything that happens. And if you open a case, post the number here and tag a mod.
The case ID: 15246078301
We have been consulting about this question for a long time and have not found a solution.
Hello @Seller_H3x92K7N4nv2k- appreciate you joining us here in the seller forums. Amazon will look to verify ISBN information through the Bowker database, which I understand is not always an immediate process.
I wanted to let you know I was able to read through the case ID you included in the comments here, and it does appear our team there was able to list with the desired publisher name. Can you help identify if you are still facing any challenges in this regard?
Thanks much!
