Read onlyThis is a scam, I will never stock FBA
On March 8, I was deducted 1400 USD storage fee, today I was deducted Long-term storage fee 832.62. What the hell happened?
FBA is a scam
It sounds like you did not fully understand the services and fees FBA provides. Selling on Amazon and using FBA is not a good fit for everything. YOU as the business owner need to do the math and decide if it works for you.
FBA may be many things, but it's not a scam.
Sounds like you sent far more inventory to FBA than you could expect to sell in a reasonable time.
FBA is intended to FULFILL orders; it's not a storage facility.
All of these fees are spelled out in the terms. Sounds as if you didn't fully understand them, or you grossly miscalculated how well your product would sell. Either way, the fault is not Amazon's.
They can only charge you for the amount of items YOU decide to send in. You obviously miscalculated what the appropriate amount was.
And stop thinking of it as "warehouse". Think of it as "Fulfillment Center". It's not there to act as long term storage for your inventory.
FBA actually works great. If you do not sell an item fast, it sits there for long time. Amazon has to pay rent for that space. Amazon could move more products and make more money. It is an opportunity cost for Amazon. If you rented space for your product, you would have to pay for it. So, consider that it is a rent for your space. So, I am telling you, FBA can be many things, but not a scam. If is a wonderful tool if you use it wisely.
So your advice to the OP is to ignore what is said by people who have a clue of what's going on??
Sounds like you got hit on long term storage. I assume you sell books. You are correct, you should reconsider FBA if you have slow moving products like books. I've been there before since I sold books back in the day. Some books can take up to a year to sell. But they can be a diamond in the rough when the right person finds them. Maybe pull back those slow movers and fulfill yourself.
FBA Def not a scam. You need to understand logistics my friend. No shade. Just stating fact.
You are absolutely right. You are better off shipping yourself and saving a TON of $$
Looks like seller is amateur based out of Vietnam. Definitely didn't use seller university.
I'm sorry this is happening. It sounds like you are selling items that sell slowly. For slow-selling items, FBA is not useful. Only keep fast moving items on FBA. Recall everything else and fulfill them yourself.
Sadly, the cost to recall items has tripled. It used to be fifty cents per item. Now it is a dollar fifty.
The reason Amazon implemented the long term storage fee is, people were selling slow moving stuff, and Amazon's warehouses were absolutely stuffed with slow moving product. It was so bad, in Q4 they would often have to stop receiving shipments because their warehouses were full!
It sounds to me like you have a very large inventory to have removed. You need to decide if it would be cheaper and reduce your loss to just have them dispose of the inventory.
Again, I'm sorry this is happening. It sucks. But FBA is not a scam. It works great for quick selling items.
