Can't raise my price!
I've browsed around this forum and found a lot of people talking about it, but still can't figure out what to do. One of my products, which I'm the only seller, will not let me raise the price without losing the Buy Box. Doesn't matter if I try to just raise it $1. Am I just stuck not being able to get the price where it should be?

The Buy Box is based on many things, and Amazon will not reveal exactly what (for obvious reasons).
But one measure that is pretty well known is historic pricing, and experience has generally shown that once an item sells some at a new slightly higher price, then the BB will usually be given back at that higher price.
It may hurt for a while, but your best bet may be to raise your price and hope you get a few sales.

Try multiple SKUs with the same product, one low enough to get the buy box, and one higher. Offer free priority shipping on the higher one.
It is possible that the pricing bot may decide that the buy box price should be higher simply because of the listing with the higher price, even if nobody buys it,
If someone does buy at the higher price, the pricing bot is likely to raise the buy box price.

If your selling your product anywhere else at a lower price they already know. So make sure you dont have an ebay or walmart or anywhere else listing, including your own website if you have one.
After you are certain Amazon carries the lowest price even with the higher price in effect, then open a ticket asking for the buybox back. You will get the runaround, and they will tell you the featured price is not guaranteed, and ask you for things that are totally irrelevant, like a website displaying a higher price than the new price. Just give them what they need, and you'll get the buy box back after that, it takes about a week of back-and-forth tickets. And stay on them about it or they won't respond to the ticket for weeks. Done this many times.

Hi @Never_Inside,
Thanks for the post.
Amazon constantly monitors pricing and determines what is best for buyers, with considerations to possible overpricing and under-pricing on the store.
Eligibility for the Feature Offer is only one component of the components to having the Featured Offer. I would recommend reviewing your listings to ensure that your listings are active and don't have any other issues such as listing quality errors or missing information.
Below are some tips to help improve your chances of being eligible.
• Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) products are automatically eligible to win a featured offer placement
• Only Professional selling accounts are eligible for the Featured Offer
• Good account conditions and overall performance metrics will increase the chances of being eligible to compete for recommended offers
• The product must have sufficient order volume to be eligible for a recommended quote Sales Partner Support cannot provide any other information.
Best regards,

She is giving only what it takes to qualify for BB and a couple of vague suggestions; nowhere will they tell you what price you can set that will still win it, or how much you can increase price, or anything similar.

I understand your frustration. If you do drop your price you may receive an email from Amazon letting you know the "competitive price" that they believe you should be charging. You can then try to dispute it though there are no guarantees they will listen. I am currently dealing with an item where the "competitive price" they have come up with is barely over my wholesale price (when I received the notice yesterday no one had the buy box). They have not responded by my case yet but the buy box is back so someone else must have also opened a case.

Prices found for items all across the internet are factored into wether you are buy box eligible. Amazon's AI that they use for calculating this, sees that there offerings online for your product at a lower price. And this AI deems that you raising your price by even one dollar, means it is past the reasonably priced threshold.
Consider raising your prices in other marketplaces, like eBay, and then after a couple of days, try raising your price on Amazon.

That's not always true.
For some unknown reason Amazon took us off a listing we created now other sellers are there at $5.00 higher.
