Introduction:
As the Amazon Club community, where professionals aiming to elevate their Amazon trade in Turkey come together, we are facing severe injustices due to systematic discrimination and unfair practices on the platform. Our community, with over 5,000 members, is a key player in Turkey's e-commerce scene. However, under the pretext of the presence of fraudsters, all Turkish sellers are being unfairly generalized, and our accounts are being unjustly suspended. This situation not only harms our individual businesses but also negatively impacts the Turkish economy.
The Scope of the Problem:
Discrimination: Turkish sellers are subjected to stricter scrutiny compared to sellers from other countries and are unfairly blocked. This is entirely based on prejudiced assumptions and eliminates fair competition conditions.
Economic Damage: These injustices, occurring in the e-commerce sector, which is the backbone of small and medium-sized businesses, threaten the livelihoods of thousands of people. According to data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, a significant portion of e-commerce sales is carried out by SMEs. Amazon's practices directly affect this critical segment that contributes to Turkey's economic growth.
Negative Impact on Employment: This issue in the e-commerce sector affects not only sellers but also indirectly impacts individuals employed in sectors like logistics and production.
Our Demands:
Equal Treatment: We demand that all sellers are treated fairly and equally, regardless of their origin.
Transparency: We ask that account suspension decisions be based on transparent and objective criteria, and sellers be given the opportunity to appeal.
End of Discrimination: We demand an immediate end to the discrimination against Turkish sellers, ensuring that all sellers operate under equal competitive conditions.
Support: We expect Amazon to make more efforts to support sellers in Turkey and take proactive steps to solve these issues.
Proposed Solutions:
Independent Oversight Mechanisms: The establishment of an independent oversight mechanism to protect the rights of sellers.
Transparent Evaluation Criteria: Clear and transparent criteria for account evaluation, applied equally to all sellers.
Facilitation of Appeal Processes: Simplifying the appeal process for sellers whose accounts were unfairly closed and ensuring swift resolution.
Support for Local Sellers: Creating special programs to strengthen local markets and sellers.
Conclusion:
As Amazon sellers in Turkey, we will not remain silent in the face of these injustices. We call on all relevant authorities and the public to take notice of this issue. With the petition we started on Change.org, we aim to raise our voices more strongly.
