STOP messing with my order handling time.

I just got an email about how I'm being automatically enrolled into some "Automated Handling Time" because I ship my orders out an average of 8 days sooner than my processing time (set to 10 days).

As a small business selling handmade items when ordered this is UNACCEPTABLE. You don't get to tell me I have to work faster, or work on days I don't want to work. I make my items when time permits, which is why I have a 10 day lead time. Yes sometimes I get orders out next day, or the day after...but also sometimes I take longer, because I can.

I have 5 kids, and with summer coming up, and the children out of school, I have less time to work my business. Maybe I make the order same day, but need a few extra days to make it out to the post office. My world does not resolve around my business. My 10 day buffer is built in, because sometimes kids get sick, sometimes I have other obligations. I know what I am doing by setting a 10 day buffer. I'd rather have a 10 day buffer set and orders get out early then have a 2 day window and angry customers because my kid puked and I have to be like "sorry kid, I can't take care of you because Amazon Overlords have said I need to get an order out right away". Or I guess I take care of a sick kid and let Amazon kick me off the platform?

If a buyer doesn't want to wait 10 days for an item, then they don't have to buy it from me.

Stop trying to control every aspect of my business Amazon.

Why does Handmade as a marketplace even exist if I'm just supposed to be some robot shipping out orders the same day they are placed?

Stop trying to fix stuff that isn't broken.

I just got this too! I have mine set at 3 days because I want to allow time for a day off, illness, and other aspects of real life for a handmade seller.

Will the automated handling settings override our ASIN level PRODUCTION TIMES?

Received the same email. I have mine set at ASIN level as @Seller_gwzuNYC3ogYNo via upload so I wonder if they are going to change everything at that level.

Agreed. Why is this forced on anyone, but especially Handmade???

All of my products are made to order. We're not reselling stuff made in China that just needs to be pulled off a shelf. Each order has to be made.

If one month products can be made faster - great.

But if the next month it takes longer ... it takes longer. Don't matter what some automated bot says - it takes longer.

Don't penalize me or set my next month's time based on what happened in a prior month.

I supposed the incentive now is to be slow to prevent this automation garbage. Maybe I'll actually ship early but not mark it shipped in Amazon for a few days. Customers will be happy to see their orders faster and the bots can F Off.

Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience! Agree this is not ideal for Handmade sellers.

There are two possible workarounds:

1) Yes indeed, when a product has an SKU-specific handling time, it will override the default handling time.

SKU-level handling time allows you to set a unique handling time (faster or slower) than your default handling time. If you set a SKU-specific handling time for a product, that setting will override both the default handling time and the template handling time.

Take the following steps to update SKU-level handling time:

- In Seller Central, go to Inventory and select Manage all inventory. Locate the SKU and click Edit, select Offer, and then select Handling time. To access inventory information, go to Manage inventory.

- Upload a feed file via Feeds API.

- Upload a feed file via Add products via upload.

Go to Manage your Handling Time for more information.

2) You can enter an order handling capacity, which will allow you to set a limit for how many orders you can handle within your default handling time, and protect yourself against late shipment rate (LSR). Order handling capacity is applied when you receive too many orders by adding one additional day of handling time for all orders above your set capacity. For more information on LSR, go to Late shipment rate. For more information on order handling capacity, go to Shipping settings. For more information, go to Modify order handling capacity.

Don't worry.. even if you set it back via the giant PITA work around of uploading a file with new shipping times.. In 6-8 weeks it will do it again.. and again.. and again.

It's been that way for years now. Welcome to the seller-unfriendly hell that is Amazon.
