Return reason-Item arrived too late

I've had a rash of returns lately with the reason of 'item arrived too late'. Of course, it didn't. They are all within the delivery time Amazon provides or early. I know this is the buyer. But, it's frustrating. Is there any recourse here?

When you deal with seller support, do not explicitly call the cusomer a liar. Stay factual.

Just repeat the order date and the ship-by date. Prove to them that you met those goals.

I meet the same problem. And I have no right to refuse those refund, because I can not provide a US REUTRN ADDRESS. It is so annoying. Some even issue a refund after they receive the product for half a month with reason arriving too late. But it did arrive in schedule.

I know its annoying but is it worth your time? How much is your outbound shipping cost? If it is significant, you can always try and have the Buyer pay but if it is $20 or less, move on, its not worth your time, as frustrating as it is.

I just received an "item arrived late" return. The projected delivery date gave me 8 days to deliver the package. The package arrived in 2 days.

I keep getting these Safe-T claims rejected.

There is no recourse here worth the effort, unfortunately. If you charge a restocking fee, you are running into a high risk of getting a bad feedback, which affects your Account Health and, in my opinion, subsequently, Buy Box chances. Most customers no longer click on the sellers' feedback to read them, but if you get too many of bad ones, they will see fewer stars next to your name on the product page and that might make them think twice before ordering from you.

We run into "item arrived too late", occasionally, but just about all of such returns are BS because we deliver most orders overnight, which automatically shows that the customer is not truthful. Customers would rather lie to show to the system that it's seller's fault instead of admitting their own fault or simply a change of heart about the product.

Not much can be done here. That's just the way Amazon raised its customers: dump everything on sellers and Amazon, keep ordering and returning at will.

Welcome to Amazon. No re-course, of course its frustrating, they are abusing the return policy, and sadly Amazon is doing nothing to persuade this type of behavior. It would be absolutely easy to implement this, by just having the buyer enter the tracking they (received) and if the seller didnt get marked for late delivery, it would refuse the free, return and force buyer to pay for return, at the very least. (it would be nice if they would warn the buyer that this is not a valid excuse, and action could be taken against their account if this continues, you know the same verbage we get for doing nothing wrong)

If it gets a RFS refund, then file a SAFE-T claim to get the return shipping back. If it does not get an RFS refund due to being over $100 or just for whatever reason it doesn't get one, then it's more tricky. Your options are as follows:

1. Wait a week for Amazon to refund because you didn't and then file a SAFE-T claim at that point, but you run the risk of getting an A-Z claim from the buyer for not refunding quickly enough. If that happens, you can no longer file the SAFE-T claim.

2. Issue the refund minus the return shipping through an Order Adjustment file upload, but again you run the risk of the buyer filing an A-Z claim if they aren't happy about you withholding the return shipping. I would message the buyer and explain that the return shipping is being withheld because the item was actually delivered within the promised timeframe and hope for the best in this scenario.

3. You can just take the loss on the return shipping to prevent a potential A-Z claim, but then you're out the money you shouldn't be.

Depending on how many orders you ship and how much an ODR hit would affect you may determine which way you want to go. Isn't it fun trying to navigate this system that Amazon has set up?

Thank you all. I'm trying a Safe-t on one to see how it goes.

Safe-T claim worked. $4.02 reimbursed. Here's the verbiage that I used:

Buyer returned item with reason of Return Reason: Item arrived too late

Buyer Comment: Did not arrive in time

Buyer placed order on 8/xx/xxxx. Item was shipped on 8/xx/xxxx. Item was delivered on 8/xx/xxxx which is before Amazon provided delivery date of 8/xx/xxxx.

Order summary Ship by: Mon, Aug xx, 2024 PDT Deliver by: Fri, Aug xx, 2024 PDT to Thu, Aug xx, 2024 PDT Purchase date: Fri, Aug xx, 2024, 1:40 AM PDT

Delivery Information Time Location Event Details Mon, Aug xx, 2024, 4:30 PM PDT Package delivered.

Please reimburse for the return shipping costs.

Most of this was cut/paste from the order itself. HTH.
