Read onlyHi. I hope someone can help me.
I had an established store for a few years with Amazon. Very good customer reviews. The store has been inactive for years and I just restarted it and got approved in the books category again.
Yesterday I went to list books I plan to ship to FBA and 5 of 6 books had restrictions on them. All had good sales ranks. It said I would have to show receipts etc to get approved.
Does that mean I can’t really sell used books anymore? I sourced these from thrift stores. HELP.
Unless you run into a case where every book is restricted (out of an array of different sorts of books) then what you are experiencing is increasingly common.
This will especially affect textbooks and hot selling books.
If the approval demands invoices -- stop there. Just sell the book elsewhere.

In addition to what @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6blhas told you, there have been DOZENS of posts about the issues faced by book sellers on Amazon in the past year or so -- gating of publishers brands, whitelisting for BOTH new and used, IP complaints, HIGH PRICE errors, and more.
Amazon is no longer a good (it's barely viable) location for selling books and it is downright toxic for textbooks!
Sell elsewhere. You can scan the posts for all the suggestions, but eBay seems to be getting a lot of sellers from here!
ALSO--
Regarding her comment about STOPPING if the approval asks for invoices, be VERY careful what you even apply for now.
There have been some posts (not enough to show a definite trend in place) where sellers were suspended for just applying for approval without have an LOA and/or invoices from authorized wholesale sources.
Amazon is NOT what it was a couple years ago. Seller beware!
Hi @Seller_TCygkqbSeIahd,
As part of ongoing efforts to provide a greater shopping experience, we are implementing selling qualifications for some products that might have a higher risk of authenticity issues, which include used books. Unfortunately at this time the category is restricted. You can check back at a later time to see if the requirements open in the future. A lot of textbooks are restricted at this time and there is no path forward.
Regards,
