Read onlyI remember Amazon FBA offering a placement service where you can ship everything to one FC and then they re-distributed the items to the ultimate FC and Amazon charged 20 or 30 cents per item.
Do they still offer that service?
Hi @Seller_Vd3fzE8t2WKbN,
Yes, Amazon still offers this service! It's now called the "Inbound Placement Service" and I think you'll find the current setup quite interesting. Looking at the help page 2025 FBA inbound placement service fee, under "FBA inbound placement service," there are actually three ways to handle your inventory:
You can send everything to one location (called "minimal shipment splits"), which comes with a per-unit fee. For standard-size items, that's around $0.16-$0.30 for small items and $0.18-$0.34 for larger ones. Worth noting that sending to western fulfillment centers tends to cost a bit more.
Or, if you prefer, you could split your shipments between 2-3 locations for a lower fee, or even get the service for free if you can send five or more identical cartons (they call this "Amazon-optimized shipment splits").
If you'd like to try it out, here's how to set it up (from Can I send all my inventory to a single fulfillment center?):
Just keep in mind that some items need special handling and can't be part of this service. According to What products are exempted from the FBA inventory placement service?, this includes things like apparel, jewelry, shoes, media, oversize items, hazmat materials, and items that need Amazon prep or labeling.
Hope this helps explain the current setup!
Best regards, Michael
