Account Set to Inactive due to Dormancy

Got an email about 36 hours ago saying "We have temporarily placed your selling account in an inactive status…To protect your business, we have restricted changes to your account until we can verify your identity"

Ok, I sign into to seller central, "To reactivate your store, you may be required to add a new credit card and verify your identity. Please be advised that it may take a few minutes for your store to be reactivated" and a continue button. I click that, it takes me to my "Charge Methods" page. What next? Am I expected to add yet another credit card to my existing list of 7, which are shared with my consumer account? Why?

Why do you have so many credit cards on file? You only need one on your business account. That may be your problem. You need a credit card (not a debit card) with your identification information and address right down to every comma, period, space, capitol letter, abbreviation (or lack of abbreviation) without any variation at all. To my understanding, you can have more than one credit card on your consumer account but not your seller account.

For others who hit this:

  • When you get to the payment page, choose to update the payment method … and you can literally choose the exact same payment method you already have on file
  • This will trigger actual verification which consists of uploading your driver license and proof of address
