Usps sacks/bags

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can provide an insight on the issue that we are facing. We ship via the usps. Everyday we have around 30-50 bags full of packages going out. We have a pick up daily from the usps. Our driver though does not provide us bags to put the packages in for about 3 month already. We tried to complain to the post office, spoke to multiple regional managers and nothing. For the past three month we would go to one of the processing facilities and take the bags from there but now that facility plus the post office next to us is refusing to give us any. Everyone is giving a reply that they don’t have any and that the bags that our driver picks up get dropped off at some other facility and then they are transferred somewhere else. When we call that facility those ppl are telling us that they don’t have any bags either. At one point one driver told us that we can order the bags online but there’s no option on usps.gov. Tried calling the usps directly and everyone is just refusing to take any responsibility or answer a simple question who should provide us the bags. Using a pack of contractor bags daily is really not a solution when at the end of the day the usps will just discard them. Anyone can share where they get their bags or can it really be ordered online somehow? We are located in Brooklyn, NY.

Thank you

What happens if you don’t bag the packages and tell the driver to take them? I would assume that after a week of the driver having to hand pack everything into the truck, someone will figure out how to get you bags.

Get plastic trash bags and fill them with your packages…until you find permanent solution.

We get the plastic bins to put items in from the PO. When they don’t bring the bins we use big plastic tubs he can carry to the truck. He then has to dump everything out and bring back the tub.

They are usually very proactive about finding/bringing the USPS bins after having to pick up a hundred small packages out of the truck…

That’s a pretty decent volume, have you looked at getting them to bring carts or cages to fill instead of bags? This would of course necessitate a truck, but if you’re loading 20-30 bags, you probably have a large vehicle for transport already - or if they’re picking up, they should be able to drop off the carts/cages and pick them up in the afternoon.

I can give you a small gesture. Every 2 weeks give the driver a small gift or a home made cooky or what I do is give him a small bottle of water every day.

This will get you everything.

This is the USPS website for ordering commercial volume supplies.
At the volume you are describing, you don’t have an account manager assigned by the USPS? If you’re shipping close to 100k parcels/year, they would be happy to talk with you.

Your luck to get someone to pick up. Our local USPS said they were doing us a favor for pick ups. So they would send someone at 11AM or Noon to pick up knowing that we would not be ready with all the orders until much later. Than when I asked them why they were sending someone so early they told me they were doing us a favor. We now have to drive the packages to another USPS out of our area. After complaining all we got we some stupid letter from the lady that was rude to us to say they were sorry. Good luck getting anywhere with the USPS.

Another USPS story. The girl that works at another USPS near us says the Post Master leaves everyday at Noon and than she just sits on Ebay all day shopping until they close.

We use big plastic tubs and just dumb them in their larger bins at the facility.

If you have not already, look up and contact your regional office for the USPS and let them know of your issue. If they see you have good volume, they usually have the ability to reach over the head of your postmaster and do what it takes to help you with your mail situation.
