How to Get Approval to Sell Used Books

I have some used books that I need to resale. I searched the title of the books I want to sell on the seller app and it said I needed the approval to sell. Do you know how can I get approval? Thank you!

As long as you have no general account issues (passed through verification, have a valid credit card on file, and deposit method), then you should have no trouble selling most books in used condition.

You will not get approved for most textbooks. And some very popular books that are already overrun with offers.

Otherwise, when you get the message about needing approval – just click on the link. If you are instantly approved, all you need to do then is wait before you try to list. Anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days.

When you get that far, make sure you always work with “More Attributes” or "Advanced View’ selected (a toggle at top right – sometimes called one, sometimes called the other).

You apply. Depending on your history as a seller, you might get approved. If you are not automatically approved you cannot qualify without a buying relationship with the publisher or its authorized distributor.

Fortunately, Amazon is not the biggest, best or only venue to sell used books on.

When listing books, search by ISBN, not title, in order to make sure you are posting on the correct catalog page. What you are doing is actually why the category is so restricted. Many would-be sellers listed books by title, and didn’t pay attention to the edition. Buyers were receiving older editions when they were buying the latest edition.

Many titles have different edition and bindings. If you have a book that was published without an ISBN (prior to 1972), then it gets very tricky to make sure you have the correct catalog page for the book you have.

I know you are trying to sell textbooks, and the other posters have given you correct answers. Unfortunately, selling textbooks is very difficult for a new seller on Amazon. I just wanted to bring this to your attention in case you have other books that you can list. Although most (proper) textbooks are restricted, other books sold for subsequent reading for college courses are not considered textbooks and are sellable.

It seems to me that the first thing you should do is put your account in abeyance and learn about how this platform works. It might take a few months of daily study. Regards.
