UPS FBA shipment Vanished before getting scanned... Now What
UPS picked up an FBA shipment Dec 3, they never scanned it, and now it's missing. UPS won't accept a claim because it was never scanned. What are we supposed to do? Its been 30 days...

I would suggest to accept that inventory is lost. Its very important to have carrier's scan upon receipt or its possible something like this happens.

Have you used FBA before or is this the first time? Are you sure you put both labels on the box?

Hello @Seller_n1mh65Ij2NT7L
Christine here.
I am sorry you are going through this situation.
I would recommend you to document Everything:
- PS Pickup Confirmation: Retain any emails or receipts confirming your pickup with UPS.
- Communication with UPS: Keep a record of all correspondence with UPS regarding the shipment.
- Weight Tickets/Proof of Shipment: Any documentation proving the shipment existed (like weight tickets, receipts, or tracking info).
- Photos of Packed Boxes: If you have pictures of the boxes before shipping, include them as evidence.
- Detailed Inventory List: List all items included in the shipment with descriptions and values.
Also, some alternative actions:
- Business Insurance Claim: If you have business insurance covering lost shipments, file a claim as soon as possible.
- BBB Complaint: If you're dissatisfied with UPS's handling, consider filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
- Escalate Within UPS: If initial customer service doesn’t resolve your issue, escalate by requesting to speak with a supervisor or a higher authority.
Some preventive measures for future shipments:
- Scan Receipt at Pickup: Always request a scan receipt from the UPS driver when your package is picked up. This provides immediate proof of the package's collection.
- Drop Off at UPS Store/Center: Consider dropping your packages off at a UPS Store or UPS Customer Center instead of scheduling a pickup. This can reduce the chance of errors.
- Photograph Your Boxes: Take clear photos of the packed boxes, especially the shipping labels, before handing them over for shipment. This provides additional proof of what was shipped.
I hope you can work this out with UPS.
Have a great day!
Christine.

We had this happen to three shipments over the last 6 months with an estimated loss of $1000+. It wasn't discovered until we were working on reimbursements and it looks to be no path to recovery. UPS does scan on pickup and they say it would be scanned again when it was brought to the UPS hub but it looks like that didn't happen either. We are going to have to come up with a plan and @Christine_Amazon has some good ones in this thread.

Finally Feb 27th is here, and I checked the status of this shipment. Amazon said they got it, but now they're saying the box was EMPTY and they *did an investigation* and the inventory is CORRECT. Baloney. We don't ship full cases of just air. Now what should we do? Amazon says "Investigation completed – shipment contents counted and confirmed"..... as an empty box??? I just opened a case so we'll see what happens there.

Greetings,
FBA received the shipping plan box, but now they're saying the box was empty. Again. (There seems to be a systemic issue where the count is credited to another shipping plan. We've been through this quite a few times.)
"Amazon has received your shipment and a discrepancy has been found in one or more of your items. Review the details and status of each discrepancy below."
It happens to be missing exactly the number that we shipped in the case. Still awaiting Amazon action. So it appears despite a mysterious path, the shipment made it to its destination. But it was missing everything that was in it.
I'm curious what they're doing next. It's been almost four months since we shipped it.

NEW! Improved Update! Amazon just responded to the missing box pending action by Amazon case. They want PROOF of Amazon picking up the box. All we have is a video of the driver picking up the package BUT THEY NEVER SIGN ANYTHING WHEN THEY PICK UP PREPAID AMAZON LABELED BOXES. There's no end of day for Amazon prepaid labels. and they never scan the packages in our facility when they're Amazon prepaid labels. So what are we supposed to provide?? Amazon knows there's no pickup receipt, why are they demanding it? Had this been our own account we would have been paid in two weeks- back in December 2024.
I called UPS right after I noticed the box wasn't anywhere in their system, and they said I had to talk to Amazon because it was Amazon's account. I even talked to some higher level people and they said it was all up to Amazon. I contacted Amazon, and they made me wait until Feb 27. UPS said had they contacted UPS from Amazon they could have resolved the box being missing, but two months wait time was too long.
Last night, four and a half months after the box was picked up, Amazon responded demanding a proof of pickup.... what are we supposed to do now??

Even though we gave Amazon/Ring date stamped photos of the UPS driver picking up the package and these photos clearly show what was in the package, even though we have a screen shot of Amazon claiming they got the package, and even though we have them packing lists and everything else, because we didn't give them a SIGNED RECEIPT from the UPS driver that he picked up the shipment, they closed the case.
Why does Amazon insist on something that doesn't exist for anyone with a daily pickup?? UPS does not have an end of day report for pre-paid labels and there's no way a UPS driver is signing anything they're not instructed to sign by UPS. They might as well ask for a sample of rocks from the planet Mongo.
When I noticed the package wasn't going anywhere in the system, I proactively contacted UPS and they told me I had to deal with Amazon. I contacted Amazon and they told me I had to wait until Feb 27. The package was shipped Dec 4. By this time it appears Amazon did receive it from the website information- but yet again the package was *empty.*
This irks me. Really irks me.
