Drop shipping on Amazon is about the quickest route to getting your account suspended, likely forever. Amazon technically allows drop shipping, but you have to know exactly what you are doing, and those you rely on must know exactly what they are doing. Before doing any drop shipping, you better go through Seller University, and specifically watch the Drop Shipping Overview video. You can not just find some retailer like Walmart, Home Depot, Zoro, etc. and have them ship orders for you. You must be listed as the seller of record, and no packaging or packing lists or anything else should list any other retailer. You can't even ship your own orders using Walmart or Home Depot boxes without running afoul of the Drop Shipping policy and likely getting suspended.

You should have asked these questions BEFORE you started trying to sell.

If you don't have the inventory, then your best bet is probably to cancel the order. Your account may or may not survive that, but a better chance than if you do out-of-policy dropshipping.

Then put your account on vacation, go through Seller U, read the forums for at least a week (two is better), paying special attention to any threads mentioning "Section 3", "Deactivated", or "counterfeit".

Don't come off of vacation until you have a viable business plan that doesn't involve selling items that you don't have.

Hi @Seller_m9LkTzQ2ZmfDe,

Dominic from Amazon here, want to provide some additional info. Drop shipping on Amazon refers to the process of allowing a third-party to fulfill orders to customers on your behalf. The main point for sellers to know is that drop shipping is not an acceptable practice unless it’s clear to the customer that you’re the seller of record.

This article we posted: Amazon drop shipping policies: The dos and don’ts you need to know should be reviewed before you begin selling.

Best,

Dominic

Study Seller University and read all the policies before selling on Amazon and listing anything.

Drop shipping is a bad idea.

I agree with TNValley and adding start selling your product to get used to Amazon System.

People create their own problems then blame Amazon when they take a hit for it. As others have pointed out, you obviously did not read the terms of sale Amazon created in their Amazon University section, which explains the dos and don't of selling on Amazon. Dropshipping is a no-no. Period. Its a sure fire way of getting your selling account permanently closed. I would strongly suggest you re-think your selling strategy.

Hello and welcome, as TNValleyProducts said, dropshipping is not a good practice here. I know, it looks like a good business model, but it generally ended up with a suspension.

If you still want to dropship, "I believe" these are the main rules you need to consider:

  1. Do not buy from Amazon and send it to your customer if you don't have an authorization letter directly from the brand. This is not okay. When you buy it from Amazon, it doesn't mean you can resell it for commercial purposes. You need a written authorization from the brand.
  2. You need to work with a warehouse that offers Amazon FBM prep service (probably located in USA). They will receive the package from your supplier, repack it (and comply Amazon packaging rules), and ship to your customer.

Do you have any product near you? At your house/business? You're going to have to ship this order or you'll be in serious trouble before you've barely begun!! Purchase some cheap packaging supplies: bubble wrap or bubble bags, padded envelopes/ buy your shipping label thru AMAZON.

THEN PUT YOUR ACCOUNT on VACATION...account status/store info/vacation so you don't get any orders until you know what you're doing.

Foremost, click on SELLER UNIVERSITY. Seller Central/LEARN/SELLER UNIVERSITY. Why AMAZON doesn't REQUIRE the completion of these videos from all new sellers slays me. You might have to watch certain portions several times(they are segmented into classes, begins at 101 and becomes more difficult. ). Then you can search the forum for threads concerning the items you sell. Then and only then, take your account off vacation.

We've sold here over 12 years and I learn something every day!! Amazon changes all the time...not always for the better But you must learn the basics first, whether you're FBM or FBA. .

Good Luck!!

Okay, so dropshipping on Amazon is allowed so long as you follow the rather strict policy that Amazon provides for you. I have copied the appropriate policy and placed it below.

Drop Shipping Policy

Drop shipping, or allowing a third-party to fulfill orders to customers on your behalf, is not acceptable unless it is clear to the customer that you are the seller of record. The following examples of drop shipping are policy violations that may result in a restriction of your ability to sell using Amazon’s Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN):

Purchasing products from a third party, including Amazon or another seller in Amazon’s stores, and having that third party ship directly to customers, if the shipment does not identify you as the seller of record or if anyone other than you (including the third party) appears on packing slips, invoices, or external packaging, it is strictly prohibited without exception; or

Shipping orders with packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or other information indicating a seller name or contact information other than your own is also strictly prohibited.

Any time a customer sees packaging, invoices, or receipts identifying a seller that is not you it creates confusion for the customer about how their order is being fulfilled and whom they should contact with any problems or questions.

If you intend to fulfill orders using another company’s fulfillment service, a third-party logistics company, or a drop shipper, you must always:

Have an agreement with your supplier where you are the only seller of record and the only entity identified as the seller of your products on all packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or any other information included or provided in connection with the products;

Remove any packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or other information identifying a different seller or third-party supplier prior to shipping the order; and

Remain responsible for accepting and processing customer returns, and always comply to the: Business Solutions Agreement (BSA) and applicable Amazon policies.

Failure to fulfill these conditions will result in the loss of your account. Suspended dropshippers almost never get their accounts back. You can not fulfill these conditions by purchasing through Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, or any other retail online website.
