I am attempting to create a new listing with a new product and receive this error:
The SKU does not match any ASIN and contains invalid value(s) for attributes required for creation of a new ASIN.
I purchased my GTIN UPCs directly from GS1 last week. I have been patiently waiting for them to validate on the Amazon side however I am still getting this error. All the details match in both systems, brand etc…
How can I get past this error to move forward. I opened a support case and it has been a never ending circle of getting nowhere with the support reps. Its like they don’t even read what is submitted. I’ve sent the brand, GS1 certificates, Product photos, manufacturer info - everything they ask for multiple times. Very frustrating.
Any ideas?
Whoo who!!! Approved!
Took a full week of wrestling with them and sending in complete documentation and they accepted that I do in fact own the GS1 codes and allowed them to be validated.
So I have a hypothesis as to why these were flagged and maybe others can share, but I purchased these GS1’s as 1 off $30 no annual fee so they are not uniform numbers compared to when you buy a set of them and the middle digits are associated with your brand. Perhaps the Amazon query checks the brand/company prefix section of the digits and rejects if they are generic. For my situation and this product, I didn’t need 10 UPC’s and also didn’t want an annual fee.
Also this looks like a copy paste reply also because I’ve registered my brand, but they claim its ‘unknown’. Then at the bottom it says disregard that if you have a brand.
From your correspondence, we understand you are receiving an error while adding your product. We are sorry to hear that you were not able to add the products due to an error.
Upon checking in with our internal team, we have approved your UPCs for listing. Please try to list your products again.
Also, please note that from our records, we see that you are using “unknown” under the brand name. As per the seller support page for “Amazon Brand Name Policy”, you should use generic names when the product does not belong to any brand.
Prior to listing, you must request and receive approval from Amazon to list generic products in the desired marketplace and product category. If you have already obtained approval from Amazon to use generic value as brand name, you can enroll products without UPC/EAN. While listing products that are generic/non-branded, you should not use GTIN that do not belong to the product.
If the above does not pertain to you, you can disregard and list your products with the name of your brand.
Well - this one’s over for me and on to the next Amazon hurdle. Good luck everyone! Looks like if you submit all the documentation and have patience they will approve.
Delete any draft that you have. Don’t reuse the sku
When you input the Gtin in the “add product” search bar on Amazon, what does it say? Does it indicate that it does not exist on the database?
I got a rep on the phone last night and she submitted all the required documentation to move my ticket forward to a specialist team, so we’ll see what they come up with.
Still no action from Amazon on fixing this issue.
I did call GS1 support today and the rep stated that they have been inundated with calls on this same issue that Amazon wont validate the UPC. They stated that everything on GS1 side is operating as it always has and that this issue is 100% on Amazon side. They confirmed that when you buy a UPC and mark it ‘In Use’ it is immediately ping-able in their database by retailers. The rep seemed well aware of all the issues Amazon is having on this topic and must be getting a ton of calls on it.
Alas, she stated there is nothing she can do on the GS1 side to help the Amazon error.
Pretty sure it is a UPC validation error. Its the only tab with a ( ! ) on it and when you put the UPC number in the little validation dial spins by the save button and then the error pops up right under the UPC.
I am now having this same problem and have never experienced this issue before. Thanks for making this thread OP, I’ll be monitoring for any updates!
I’m getting this error now as well.
UPC registered to my brand, yet not letting me create a listing. Never seen this error before either.
Has anyone received a solution this error?
Seller Support is entirely unhelpful.

Can you tell us what documentation you provide, @Justanother_LLC?
I got the same error message and filed a case. Amazon is asking me to submit two items, which I’m pasting below:
(1) A copy of the certificate issued to you by GS1 showing your legal entity and associated GTIN prefix(s).
(2) Proof that the legal entity on this certificate is related to your brand such as a trademark registration or website which displays your products or brand and its relationship with the UPC/EAN owner. (We only consider official websites owned by the brand, manufacturer or the UPC/EAN owner - the affiliation should be clearly called out)
I have not registered to trademark my brand yet. So therefore, how can I provide proof for the second item?
