Sadly, Amazon makes it harder for sellers to follow On-Time Delivery Rate, which should be returned to the way it was before because it is really difficult for sellers to keep up with it.

Hello @Seller_ZXQB5JrwxAzEy Thanks for checking in with the forums about that report.

If you share a Case or Order ID, I can check those details and make sure there isn't an error with the report. In the meantime, I recommend checking the OTDR report, specifically the "Actual delivery date" PDT details.

I shared your question with our partner team to confirm that the "Promised delivery date with a promise extension" is what's used to determine if an order falls in the 14-day window for "Promised Delivery Date."

Yes it is broken, it is there to benefit "overseas" sellers. Just like everything else with Amazon, the ones overseas will not have to deal with this nonsense. Just us Americans who play by the rules have to deal with it.

My orders are arriving early, yet my OTDR is sinking like a stone...

We also have reason to question some items showing on our OTDR and have reached out on 2 other threads, but have not seen any mod activity on those so we are trying again here.

We really, really would appreciate any specific guidance on this! I'm hopeful here because I see that @KJ_Amazon did show a willingness to check to see if there may be an Amazon error on the OP's report. Would someone please look at this case that has been open for weeks, with no resolution? We are getting Amazon responses on the case, but they do not address the issue or they give answers to questions we aren't asking, or are telling us that "all is well with our OTDR so don't worry".

While we feel we are completely accurate and that these should not be showing on our OTDR, we of course accept that we may be missing something and would like to know so we don't make the same mistake again. It seems very cut-and-dried to us. The orders shipped when we had the 3 tools in place (AHT, SSA and ABS), ABS shows OTDR protected badge, items were scanned on time, but were delivered very late. They should have protection on them and not show on the OTDR report, correct?

PLEASE, can we get some insight on this?

I totally agree with the OTDR fiasco.

I have been hit with them as well in the past month. In every case the situation has been the same:

Day 1, order comes in

Day 1, I pic, package, and deliver (across the street from my store) to the USPS office

Day 1, The postmaster, Billy (who is also my friend), logs in my package.

From then on it is totally out of my control. And, yet, if my package arrives at its destination a day late; I get punished for it.

And each time I sent Amazon's own OTDReport back to them to show the timeline and I get absolutely no follow up.

Thank you for checking in about On Time Delivery Rate calculations and metrics. You can read more about recent updates in our News and Announcement post: New updates to our on-time delivery policy and shipping settings.

These changes were made because fast and accurate delivery is essential for customers and often determines where they choose to shop. The on-time delivery rate requirement is set at 90% to account for multiple uncontrollable factors, including inclement weather events, unexpected delays, and other sporadic disruptions.

Why is Amz judging us on piece count? If I have 3 orders, 1 w/ 1 item, 1 w/ 1 item & 1 w/ 18 items, and the one with 18 items delivers a day late Amz shows 2/20 with on-time delivery. Wouldn't you think 2 out of 3 or 66% delivered on time would be the way to calculate on-time delivery? Not 2/20 or 10%. Why would someone who orders 18 units be more important than the other buyers who ordered 1 unit?

This is NUTS!!! And needs to be changed otherwise you will lose most of your 3rd party sellers. Please don't tell me to activate automatic transit and handling times. We have great control of our FBM inventory, handling times, UPS transit times, etc. It's Amz that is the issue with how they calculate OTDR! Needs to change!!

These changes were solely made to force sellers to ship faster because the competition announced the same. They take no consideration that we are the best at running our business and understanding the nuisances and dangers of selling with Amazon when our metrics are not met. This decision might be the worst business decision in 10 years and will cause multiple account issues and removal of brands and products that cannot meet your deadlines, all the while giving overseas sellers advantage because they are probably exempt.

In drilling down on this further, I do notice one field on the Manage Orders screen that may be a clearer indication to a Seller that an order was in fact shipped with an SSA template implemented. Am I correct in thinking that if there is a box on the order page that says "Shipping Service Used to Calculate Delivery Promise", that is always a way to confirm that SSA is in fact implemented on that order?

View post

Hello @Seller_xFV4JULZU1MtP The "Shipping Service used to calculate..." shows that Shipping Settings Automation (SSA) is enabled for a particular order. I will confirm if it is a 100% indicator.

I'm mentioning that because it seems those badges are creating a lot of confusion amongst Sellers. If your findings are correct and we shipped these orders before the 3 tools that would be required for protection were implemented on our end, why would they show those protected badges?
View post

Those badges specifically refer to the shipping label purchased.

For both Claims Protected and OTDR Protected shipping labels there are other factors and seller requirements that determine whether the order/shipment is protected.

To give an example: a seller can purchase a 'Claims Protected" shipping label, but if they don't actually ship the order our until after the ship-by date, it will not be protected from an A-to-Z Claim. The full requirements are shown as a mouse-over for those badges and in multiple news announcements and help pages.

You can read more about OTDR protections and policy on the following pages:

Seller Help Page: Frequently asked questions about on-time delivery rate (OTDR)

News & Announcements: New updates to our on-time delivery policy and shipping settings

Seller Help Page: Amazon Buy Shipping protections

Effective September 25, 2024, you'll need to maintain a minimum 90% OTDR without promise extensions to have seller-fulfilled products listed on Amazon.com. Please let me know if you have any additional questions about OTDR.

THE ONLY SOLUTION AND THING THAT WORKS IS THAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS MAKE SURE THE ITEM IS DELIVERED ON TIME . THE DATE ON ORDER PAGE THAT SAYS DELIVER BY.

THIS IS YOUR ONLY HOPE . SPEND MORE MONEY ON SHIPPING AND LESS PROFIT. TRY TO GET IT DELIVERED A DAY BEFORE THE DATE AND LOSE MONEY .

THIS IS THEIR PLAN OR SIGN UP FOR SSA AND ENABLE THE OTHER FEATURE SO YOU ARE UNDER CONTROL AND STRESSED OUT EVEN MORE.

Amazon knows that it is broken. The whole point of this new policy is to terrorize sellers into spending more money for faster shipping methods.

Amazon is insisting that us third party sellers operate as charities now.

The badges really do seem to throw everyone off. Is it safe to conclude that if the "Delivery Promise" section is missing from an order, a Seller can conclude that order is NOT covered for protections, regardless of the presence of the protected badges?

View post

Hello @Seller_xFV4JULZU1MtP I reached out to our partner team and confirmed that the two orders you contacted support about did not have Shipping Settings Automation (SSA) enabled and that the "Shipping Service used to calculate..." notice is the best indicator as to whether SSA was enabled.

The team appreciates your suggestion about showing the OTDR badge only for shipments that had SSA/AHT enabled. SSA is template-based. You can read more about that program in our help page.
