We used to offer free shipping. We do not offer free shipping anymore. We charge $10 on most items FBM outbound.
When Amazon refunds a customer at first scan, they refund the customer all $10.
When we open a Safe-T-Claim, they say STCs do not cover outbound shipping costs.
Make it make sense.
We don't offer free shipping. The customer is not entitled to that money. Yet Amazon lets them have it every time.

Whether or not the customer is entitled to a refund on shipping comes down to the reason for the return. If it's seller faulted, they are entitled to it, regardless of how much or how little you charge.
Sadly, many customers have been trained on what to select as the reason for the return in order to get the shipping refunded.
Yes, it does. For a seller faulted reason, the customer gets a FULL refund, which includes outbound shipping.
Think about it; it would be very unfair otherwise. A scammer sells something for $5, with $20 shipping, sends a small piece of junk, and the customer only gets back the $5, while the scammer pockets $10-15 in excess shipping charges?
No, seller faulted returns get the full refund.
Are you new here? Do you really think that there aren't scammers on Amazon?
And they don't have to "last long"; they'll just pop up again with new creds after a few days.
But agreed, if it is a BUYER faulted return, then the outbound (and return) shipping should not be refunded. But for SELLER faulted, both are the responsibility of the seller.
Wow. So 20 years before Bezos was even born. Impressive!
So I guess you know everything, and know that there has NEVER been a scammer on Amazon.
Odd that you post about Amazon's software not getting something right, but seem to think that it will be 100% perfect elsewhere. Maybe senility is creeping in, since you're obviously pushing 100 if you've been seller here since before Pearl Harbor was bombed.
(talk about "guessing with zero accuracy"...)
lol you're just trying to avoid refunding them the full amount. it doesn't matter if you're offering free shipping.
total cost of the item = total cost of the item. this is amazon, not ebay.
Because its NOT Amazon's money - its your money.
Total Horsesheep! Then you file safe-t and only like 7 out of 10 do you get shipping back or only part of the shipping total garbag. We just had a few identical items during Xmas customer claimed arrived late tracking show in fact arrived on time shipped with Amazon shipping customer fully refunded so we file safe-t one order we get all shipping costs back as it was not our fault and not free shipping other order it is denied and once they make it denied it is almost set in stone as they say it is not covered yet it was customer who lied on return reason and Amazon the one who interferes in everyones business fully refunding these liars and then does not want to take responsibility total BS but then what do you expect everything is corrupt all the way to the top with Bezos buying favors.
Yes. Mostly buyers and Amazon.
Just calculate your return rate and add it into the price like most others and move on with your life. Customers expect free shipping on this platform. Just give me what they want
