Request for Policy Review for Sellers of Amazon Handmade Products

Dear Amazon Team,

I am writing to bring attention to a significant challenge faced by sellers of personalized handmade products on your platform. While I fully understand that Amazon applies uniform rules to all sellers, I believe certain conditions could be adjusted to better accommodate the unique nature of businesses like mine, which specialize in customized, made-to-order items.

One of the primary issues we encounter is the difficulty in obtaining clear and complete information from customers in the personalization sections. Since each product is tailored to the customer’s specifications, we often must wait for their confirmation or clarification before beginning production. However, during this waiting period, the production and shipping timelines continue to count against us.

This creates a no-win situation: if we are unable to ship the product due to a lack of customer response, our store performance metrics are negatively impacted. Conversely, if we cancel the order for the same reason, our metrics are similarly affected. This systemic issue places undue pressure on sellers of handmade and personalized products, as our store scores are compromised regardless of the action we take.

Additionally, another concern I would like to raise is the public availability of personal credentials and addresses for individuals who sell handmade products, particularly those who are not company owners. This poses a potential security risk, and I kindly ask you to consider reviewing this policy to better protect the privacy and safety of small-scale sellers.

To my knowledge, there is currently no viable solution to this problem, and it disproportionately affects sellers in the handmade and personalized product categories. I kindly request that Amazon consider revising certain policies or introducing accommodations for sellers in this niche to address these challenges.
