Deck the Halls, Not the Inbox: Vacation Mode

Looking to take some time off for the holiday but not sure how to protect your business in your absence? Read this post to learn how you can sit back and relax when you want to.

If you're unable to fulfill any orders while you're vacationing, change your Listings Status to Inactive. Within one hour, your seller-fulfilled listings will be removed from Amazon product detail pages and search results. It's best to take care of this a little bit ahead of time to be mindful of any pending orders that sneak through.

  1. From your seller account, select Settings, then select Account Info.
  2. Go to Account Overview, in the Store Status section, click Vacation Settings.
  3. On the Vacation Settings page, you can change your settings for one or multiple marketplaces

If you have any Fulfillment by Amazon listings, they will remain active on Amazon.

Remember:

  • Any pending orders must be resolved
  • You must process return requests and respond to messages from customers within 24 hours
  • Any applicable monthly subscription fees will continue to be charged
  • Any pricing rules that apply to those inactive listings are paused until your listings are set to Active again

Once you're done with your R&R and ready to sell again, you can change the status of your listings back to Active.

So there is that issue. The INBOX doesn't stop with vacation settings.

In any case, I would assume you receive fewer messages from customers when your listings are inactive.

Since most messages are about Shipped Orders..IE/Not Received, Where's my stuff, Package damaged, etc. These messages come in the next week or so.

So even if we do put our account on vacation AFTER we shipped our last batch, the messages come during the next weeks Vacation time.

It's handled by never going on Vacation and checking messages everyday 365 days a year, just like Amazon set it up to be.

Isn't it true this impacts sales velocity of products.... one of the biggest ranking factors in the algorithm? So we should be truthful that you can take time off, but you will, indeed, pay for it.
