Brand Registry Denied Twice: Business Name & Identifier

My brand registration was rejected twice because of the of the following: This decision was made since we could not verify the registered business name and business identifier (for example: tax ID number or business ID number) provided by you at the time of submitting the appeal form.

My business name on Amazon matches the name on my EIN form which is the number I've been entering in addition to USPTO trademark application.

Could someone please provide insights into what I maybe doing wrong.

Much appreciated 👏

Hi there, my name is CR and wanted to jump in here. I apologize for the frustration here and I am going to connect with a colleague here to see if we can get you some further details to what is going on. Thank you for your patience while I connect internally.

Hello @Seller_M5ua9DQKHCnwY,

My name is Dougal and I am happy to assist. I was able to locate both case ID's of your Brand registry applications. I will focus on case ID 17475973161 since I was able to review the most amount of info you provided there. Please note, I cannot see the application you submitted, but I can review your appeals so my guidance will be based on the info from the mentioned appeal case.

I am not able to see any proof of trademark ownership in your appeal. Accepted document(s) can be trademark’s registration certificate, filing receipt, filing notice, filing certificate and e-filing of trademark.

The reason why, the Brand Registry enrollment team is trying to determine that you or your business actually owns the Trademark and they validate this with the Trademark Office (not Seller Central). So in your case, I recommend the following for next steps:

  1. Create a new application or resume the current application that is pending submission (on your Brand Applications dashboard on the Brand Registry site)
  2. Answer the question, Do you own the Trademark of the brand for which you are submitting the application? With Yes and make sure you upload one of the accepted documents mentioned above (remember this process is to validate TM ownership and NOT part of the Business Verification process in Seller Central)
  3. When filling out the Business Information section of the application, ensure the TM Owner you provide is EXACTLY the same as what is in USPTO under the "Current Owner(s) Information," tab.

I hope this helps to clarify and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best, Dougal
