I know the "low sales!" posts are tiresome, but curious to get insights from other sellers of seasonal products.
I sell products that usually work as great holiday gifts, all $25 and under. For 7 years I have tracked Nov and Dec on a daily basis and typically have a good sense of how the holidays progress in terms of views, sales, conversion, etc.
This year, I am MASSIVELY down. I know the economy is bad, but 30-50% down kinda bad? On Etsy its even worse.
I'm trying to figure out, how much of this is the economy vs an algorithm change. The change in sales started in Sep/Oct and has been miserable since.
my ACOS is nearly double than what it is typically too - so people are still shopping. I'm paying for clicks, etc. Could be as simple as people are far more selective now and instead of buying 10 gifts are only buying 5.
Any insights guys?
We are having the exact same experience. On every level. Our products sell at the same price point as yours, and we've been selling for years on Amazon with lots of data. We were running ahead of last year until 3-4 weeks ago, when the bottom dropped out. This period we're 50% down, if not more. And as you said, our ACOS has gone way up. Our products are "evergreen" - they never (at least to date) seem to lose their appeal. We are totally baffled, confused, and worried.
the economy isn't bad and spending is up on Amazon.
If you arent getting the sales, they are going somewhere else.
I think it's because people are waiting for the Black Friday deals and it's not until 11/29 this year. Last year Black Friday was on 11/24, so the Holiday shopping has been pushed back a week.
Hello @Seller_5SoN14CeFkSlZ- and thanks for checking on the sales temperature here in the seller forums.
I can help highlight some Amazon tools you may find helpful, and point to resources on the coming Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, which to another commenter's point, are slightly later than last year, though Amazon is launching the Black Friday savings event earlier this year to assist there.
Potential Sales Lift is a metric that helps you understand the value (in sales) of taking an action, such as adding a missing detail page attribute to your product listing or creating a Sponsored Products ad. You may also wish to watch this Seller University video on Amplifying sales in the Amazon store.
Further, please see the date announcement for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday events here, along with this checklist of how to best prepare for peak season!
I hope these resources prove useful, and that sales pick up soon!
Best,
Danny
agree with that we are down 55% this season been at it for 8 years never this bad
We have been selling online for over 20 years and nothing has been as bad as this year, or last year. I think there are too many people, post pandemic, who thought they could start online businesses, and that is also cutting into sales for existing Sellers. Hope it picks up for you.
I think it's all the above as others have said. Yes the economy isn't the best.. don't care what anyone says, yeah everyone is making money but it's not like 5-10 years ago where we have money to blow. I mean you can't even get take out for one person for $20 now. It's $30+. That's crazy.
I do believe that everyone is waiting for black Friday in traditional ways..plus the so called sales right now are blah, I've been watching a few things at a few stores and they are actually on the higher side right now.
Additionally so far the Dropbox at USPS is on point, when it gets busy I can never drop because it's full, so far I haven't run into that issue.
My sales are down too, but I have had a few okay, not great days this week. So I've been wondering the same. I just thought about the drop box and that gave me peace of mind. Lol. In fact I dropped Sunday night this week and I had no issues. Useally Sunday night is a guaranteed full at peak time.
I believe the economy is far worse than the media is telling us - sales are down - people are running out of money to spend on anything other than essentials
