I have boxed products being shipped to Amazon from my supplier. The product is boxed with no additional outer packaging. How will Amazon ship my product to the customer? Will they ship to the customer as is or will they put the box in an envelope? And if so, what fee will be associated? I know these are questions that should have been asked by myself already, so please be easy on me.
1. Amazon FBA will ship your product is the least costly packaging available. Tyvek bags, lose fitting box with some paper, etc.
When sending inventory to FBA it has to be individually packaged to withstand the trip to FBA, handling within FBA, and final shipping to the customer. Any damage claims by the buyer will be considered you fault, and your account will take a big hit. Do prepare now.
2. Remember Amazon is not accepting new inventory from now until the end of the year at FBA centers.
3. Did you test sell your products using FBM for at least a month, before sending them to FBA. That has 3 different benefits.
- It allows the seller to see what the salability of the product is and if they can realize their desired profit per sale.
- It allows the seller to know if there is enough remaining profit left over to pay all the fees Amazon FBA is going to assess. Remember, Amazon fees come out before you receive your profit in the disbursement.
- If the seller can afford the FBA fees, hold back another 30 days’ worth of inventory. This allows the FBM selling to remain in progress, while waiting in limbo for Amazon to sort out things out.
