Buyer got refunded the full amount because shipment arrived late

Order was purchased on Tuesday September 17th at 10AM, I dropped off the package on Wednesday September 18th at 7:46 AM, September 20th package was held by UPS because APT number is incorrect or missing, order arrived on Sept 25th when I got everything resolved with UPS, buyer got refunded because order arrived too late? Below is the attachment of buyer getting refunded / me emailing him asking him to send it back because I do not do a returnless refund, also opened 2 safe T claim and both got denied after going back and forth. Please someone help me, I cannot lose ~$600 just because UPS delayed the package. (date on picture may differ because I got a call from UPS since the 20th)

Tracking indicates you did not drop it off until the 24th. Not that you should have to refund the customer, but unfortunately even if you buy your label through Amazon, and even if you have signature, your tracking MUST show shipping on-time and not doing so forfeits your protection and makes you ineligible for Safe-T claim refund. However, one of the transit scans suggested it was being returned to you, so MAYBE that factored into their decision. Cause they will force refunds when tracking shows it's returning to sender. Did you appeal the AZ claim refund / outcome prior to doing the Safe-T claims?

To be protected, as mentioned above, you have to ship on time (and the carrier's website has to show an ACCEPTANCE scan--don't go by Amazon's tracking info), and you have to buy shipping through Amazon. I am afraid UPS let you down here by not scanning at pickup.

Why was the apartment number incorrect? Did the buyer enter it incorrectly, or did you?

Signature confirmation is worthless, btw.

How was the buyer reimbursed? Did they file an A to Z claim or did seller support just hand over your money? If it was an A to Z claim, then safe-t claims will be denied. As mentioned above, you'd have to appeal the A to Z claim rather than filing a Safe T claim.

As a side note, if I am ever late with shipping a package (I know you weren't), I cancel the order because I am not here to give away merchandise and I don't see why a customer should get free merchandise over these kinds of hiccups.

I THOUGHT that in cases like this, the customer would only be refunded the shipping cost...so hard to keep up with the overcomplicated, convoluted policies around here.
