Seeking Advice on Account Deactivation After Audit Failure

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to this community because I’m a new Amazon seller, and I’m seeking guidance on what might have gone wrong with my account. My account was deactivated on January 14, 2025, after failing an audit related to ASIN B0BN2PX8V3. The audit began on January 1, 2025, and I’ve been trying to understand what caused this outcome and how I might be able to rectify it.

For context, I started selling on Amazon in November 2024, so I’m still very new to the platform. During the audit, I was asked to provide identity verification and supply chain documents, which I submitted (details are in the email I sent to Amazon - I can attach those details, if need be, but they contain some private information).

When reviewing the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement, specifically Section 3, I noticed this clause:

"Examples of deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activities include, but are not limited to: falsifying or misrepresenting your identity or activity in our store, attempting to circumvent or manipulate our systems, or violating the Amazon anti-counterfeiting policy."

I’m concerned I might have unknowingly violated one or more of these policies. I’d greatly appreciate any insights from experienced sellers who could help answer the following:

Based on your experience, what are some common reasons new sellers like me might trigger account deactivations?

How can I determine if anything in my submitted documents might be considered deceptive or fraudulent?

Are there specific steps I should take to rectify this issue if Amazon believes I violated their policies?

Has anyone successfully appealed a deactivation in a similar situation, and if so, what worked for you?

I genuinely want to learn from this experience and ensure I operate within Amazon’s guidelines moving forward. If rectification isn’t possible, at least I can avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

Any advice or guidance would mean a lot to me. Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Best regards,

Sohaib

" But, how would I know this? I am just going out on a limb, and assuming that is the case. "

You find that out by taking the steps needed for more and more items on Amazon IN ORDER!

FIRST you get approval from the BRAND specifically allowing you to sell on Amazon.

SECOND, you ask your sales rep at the BRAND who they have for authorized distributors.

THIRD, you contact one of the distributors (or the brand itself) and buy from ONLY authorized wholesale sources.

Let's go down the list --

"I purchased 20 units from Walmart"

WALMART is NOT an authorized WHOLESALE distributor of anything. They are a RETAIL website and they give you receipts, not invoices.

"I contacted their supplier via eBay"

THIS is even a step BELOW the Walmart issue!

Start selling elsewhere. I had said you were 99.9% done but as a result of this information that number is increased to 99.9999999% finished here.

Learn the rules for wherever you go to sell BEFORE you even start someplace else.

"How can I determine if anything in my submitted documents might be considered deceptive or fraudulent?

The first question is --

DO YOU have an LOA from the brand allowing you to sell on here?

If you have an LOA that specifically says you can sell on Amazon you MIGHT survive listing items.

More and more brands are providing a "whitelist" of their approved sellers and if YOU are NOT on the list you will be stopped in your tracks and probably hit with an IP violation.

The second question is --

DID YOU source from AUTHORIZED wholesale sources that your rep at the brand says are OK? You DO have a sales rep at the brand, don't you?

If you purchased from the Anua website and sent in receipts from the website as your purchase documents you are 99.9% done on Amazon.

Respond to those as well as finding the suspension notice and POST THAT (the ENTIRE thing) but remove all personal information first.

Anyone answering will need to see what wording they used and what they are asking for.

Here is the notice I received:

Notice>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hello,

We appreciate your completion of the video interview verification. After reviewing the information from your interview, we decided to deactivate your seller account, following section 3 of the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement. You must continue to ship open orders and reply to customer inquiries to avoid further impact to your account. Funds won't be transferred to you but will stay in your account while we work with you to address this issue as per our "Funds Disbursement Eligibility Policy":

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/external/help.html?itemID=9RA9LYBJ3QP27M6

Why did this happen?

We've taken this measure as we believe your account or other related accounts operated by you may have been used for deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity.

How do I reactivate my account?

To demonstrate the authenticity of your account and your inventory, submit the following documentation for the ASIN and brand listed at the end of this email:

-- A valid government-issued photo identity document. The document must include the following information: Full name, date of birth, ID number, expiry date, signature of the bearer (if applicable), country where it was issued or country of citizenship.

-- Bank or credit card statement. The document must include the following information: The full name of the individual or the business, residential, or business address. It must also include the information of the bank that issued the statement and the records related to the purchase of the ASIN under review.

-- Registered businesses must upload their registration document. The document must state the name of the business owner or legal representative, business-operating name, business license number or registration number, official seal or stamp of the authority that issued the document, business address, date of incorporation, status of the business and signature of the legal representative (electronic signature is acceptable).

-- Supply chain documents such as invoices and receipts that include the item's description, quantities, supplier’s name, supplier phone number, supplier address, and website. You may remove pricing information, but the rest of the document must be visible.

-- Proof of delivery, bill of lading, import and export documents, customs clearance documents and authorization letters from brands and licensed brand distributors are other examples of documents that may be requested.

-- Order confirmation, order shipping, or fulfillment update documents for all the orders placed for the ASIN in question and its quantities.

Note: These documents must be authentic, unaltered and sent only in PDF, JPG, PNG or GIF format.

ASIN : B0BN2PX8V3 , Quantity : 48 ;

What happens if I do not send the requested information?

If you don't provide this information within 3 business days, or if your verification isn't successful, we may not allow you to sell on Amazon.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Notice

After doing some research, it might be because I have purchased from an unauthorized seller of the product.

Honestly, I did not even know my supplier was unauthorized. I purchased 20 units from Walmart, and one of them was defective, so Walmart connected me to their supplier by simply the supplier's name.

I contacted their supplier via eBay, as I could not find their information anywhere online, except the brand that Walmart gave me.

I bought the product from that supplier, and sold it on Amazon. It may be that supplier is not authorized distributor. But, how would I know this? I am just going out on a limb, and assuming that is the case.

Thank you.

A few questions for my understanding:

1. When you say, "I am done 99.999%", does that mean I can never sell anything on Amazon again?

2. Regarding getting approval from Anua, would I reach out to Anua directly (as in not on Amazon Sell a Product), once I have their authorization, then and only then I would be able to sell on Amazon?

3. Buying from retail stores, and selling them on Amazon, is that not a legitimate way to sell on Amazon? i.e. If I buy a product on Walmart, and I apply through "Apply to sell" on Amazon, where I show them 10 X quantity, and prices of that product. Is that not a legitimate approach to sell?

4. Lastly, Receipts =/= do not equal invoices?

Thanks for your help.

"1. When you say, "I am done 99.999%", does that mean I can never sell anything on Amazon again?"

That is the likely outcome. You did NOT study Seller U and apparently didn't bother reading the Forum to see all of the FORMER sellers that did exactly what you did.

"2. Regarding getting approval from Anua, would I reach out to Anua directly (as in not on Amazon Sell a Product), once I have their authorization, then and only then I would be able to sell on Amazon?"

Amazon increasingly is requiring LOAs from the brands involved. Since Anua has a store on Amazon and there are only a couple of sellers other than Anua there is a pretty good bet they do NOT allow anyone else to sell their products here (and probably not anyplace else). Those couple of sellers are likely to end up suspended eventually unless they have an LOA. You are too late to even think about it for Amazon at this point.

"3. Buying from retail stores, and selling them on Amazon, is that not a legitimate way to sell on Amazon? i.e. If I buy a product on Walmart, and I apply through "Apply to sell" on Amazon, where I show them 10 X quantity, and prices of that product. Is that not a legitimate approach to sell?"

It USED to be a decade ago but NOT allowed under the new, improved Amazon policies.. There are dozens of posts on the Forum where FORMER sellers were suspended even after years of selling here. The MODS have made it very clear that OA and RA are not allowed but there are a few fossils on here that still believe it can be done.

"4. Lastly, Receipts =/= do not equal invoices?"

Again, hundreds of posts on the Forum proving that they are not. Never have been, and, never will be. No chain of custody and no provenance showing authenticity. Hopefully you did NOT send anything to Amazon for FBA or all product will be seized and all funds will be withheld.

What you SHOULD have done is study Seller U. Now you can be a poster child for any other rookies that want to sell here successfully by NOT doing what you did.

Thank you.

I have been selling for just around a month, and you have educated me on two topics already, that I did not even know existed - Seller U, as well as LOAs. I was under the impression that getting ungated means you are "good", silly me!

Is there no Amazon policy around first time offenders? Or, does Amazon have a zero tolerance policy for such mistakes or "fraudulent" activities?

Thanks again for your help.

"Or, does Amazon have a zero tolerance policy for such mistakes or "fraudulent" activities? "

Maybe a decade ago you might have had a chance but that is long ago.

Amazon is not (actually almost never was) a good spot for raw beginners. They expect sellers to know their policies from the start and have very little tolerance for violations of serious issues like IP.

They have no way to know if it was a 'mistake' or willfully attempting to violate policies. As a result sellers that screw up with major/minor brands and IP issues are generally removed permanently as soon as they are caught.

Thank you.

And once I am banned for good, I can never re-start Amazon, with another account? Does Seller U cover such topics?

Thanks

Amazon will match you with any attempt to open a different account. They are better than the CIA and NSA for finding stuff like that.

And, YES, Seller U would have told you almost everything you should have known before starting.

My goodness, we live in a world where murderers walk free after a 15 year sentence, but Amazon does not forgive one mistake...
