Orderd by mistake return and we get charged $37.77 for the return. Safe-T claim denied

Customer ordered a book and returned it for reason BOUGHT BY MISTAKE. They returned it in a giant box, which also caused damage to the book and caused a giant shipping adjustment added by UPS. It is a refund at first scan return. We do not offer free returns and do not offer free shipping. We are charged for the return shipping. We as normal file a Safe-T claim. The claim is denied over and over. Had the case forwarded to some other department, and they never responded. We did everything correctly and still hit with this huge shipping fee. I ask WHY? Any help by a mod would be helpful as long as it actually gets followed up on. Order ID : 111-3474754-6258634

I sell books also, and have had some dishonest returns too.

I suspect that you have to eat the loss on this one. Once your SAFE-T claim has been denied, it is easy to spend more than 37 dollars worth of your time, and still take a net financial loss even if you win.

If we work together, we can protect each other. There are several online lists of bad buyers. ( You can find them by googling the relevant words in the previous sentence. ) You can post there, warning other sellers about this customer. You can also read warnings from your fellow booksellers like myself.

It is a long term project, but eventually we can stop these people.

Amazon used to cover the additional shipping costs which buyers caused by shipping items back in large incorrect packaging. Amazon decided it was better for their bottom line to force sellers to take the loss instead. Just be happy they didn't send it back in a box that gets you an over limit fee which is over $1000.00. That would be pretty unlikely to happen for a book, though.

I was excited to have a Safe T Claim approved, but upon inspection, only th $4.99 outbound shipping was refunded.

Appealed with photos. Denied. Appealed again, still waiting.

Customer returned sealed album opened. "Was not what I expected".

You DO offer free returns, by the way.

What are you selecting as the Reason for the Safe-T claim?

You should be choosing: Buyer used an inaccurate return reason code

Your fault Amazon profits is how the game is which is total BS! Bought by mistake should not be legit return reason nor did not approve unless that customers buying privileges are stopped cause they just stated they are basically not in control. Scamazon is failing on everything!

.

Now you must spend hours dealing with Safe-T which 9 out of 10 they deny first claim and you must go back over and over and if you forget you loose just like chargeback claims if you do not get email and mist the banner you loose even though Amazon has all shipping info as items ship with amazon shipping .

This is pretty standard here at Amazon. Be happy it's the first time you got hit with it. This most certainly won't be the last. Yes it stinks, but sadly you are wasting your time fighting it. Ask me how I know??

to get the outbound shipping back you need to open a safe-t claim and be VERY explicit that there's nothing wrong with the item and you're just seeing the outbound and return shipping back and the amount it would roughly be. that's my experience.

in cases where they use a buyer faulted error correctly, you can still get the outbound shipping back in the same way, just ask for the sppecific amount and say you're only seeking that outbound shipping cost.

I do this daily with like 99% success.

The return reason "bought by mistake" is absurd.... We have had buyers spend thousands on an order... we ship it out, at $100+ cost to us, as its heavy fabric, only to be returned for the bogus reason... so we lost 300$ and the fabric was cut, they took maybe 1 yard off the 20 yards.. amazon did not care...
