New Global Shipping Program by Amazon

I was looking under the “Programs” tab where it typically just says “lending”, but now there is a option for Global Shipping Services. I have never seen this before, so I am assuming it is new? They are essentially cutting foreign freight forwarders out. They offer air and ocean from China to US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. I am curious to see the pricing and if this is more seamless than working with suppliers and their freight forwarders. They deduct costs from you Seller Account. Next shipment we will be giving it a chance or at least exploring their pricing options. Pretty neat in my opinion! Hopefully more transparent pricing opposed to Chinese freight forwarders, and hopefully better deals. Link below

The program, Amazon Global Logistics (AGL), has actually been around for years as far as my personal experience but just not promoted by Amazon. Amazon has updated their interface on Seller Central when creating shipments using this service. Basically, you can now book a shipment using this service within Seller Central vs before where the shipment was created within Seller Central but booked outside via an “Amazon Shipping Central” site.

Sounds like you will be shipping from China as have I using this service. My experience has been very positive regarding price and transit times. From my recent experience shipping a full ocean container load, it takes about 12 days to ship from China to a port on the West Coast and then about 10 to be received at Amazon’s FC. Another perceived benefit of using AGL, it seemed to make resolving any received inventory discrepancies at the Amazon FC easier because I was using Amazon’s logistic services.

The people I interact with at AGL are based in China and to be honest they have Amazon email addresses and some Amazon brand logos here and there but it still seems like a distant subsidiary of Amazon vs a completely integrated service of Amazon; could be the cultural/language difference. Could be Amazon just bought an existing company in China and renamed it and are trying to continuously integrate it more and more. You’ll get emails in Chinese, FYI, but of course you will also have an English speaking account manager based in China to help the on-boarding process and manage the account.

As the program grows and becomes more widely used, their capacity will become more restricted regarding bookings and vessel space and containers, especially during your typical high volume seasons such as Q4 and Chinese New Year but I suppose this is true for all freight forwarders. Okay, starting to ramble so that’s my cue to end.

Is there a way to speak to someone directly?

Also the $350 Bond Fee - many other places are much less. Alibaba is like $50. Is there a way to reduce this fee?

Also is there a way to get a full quote, before paying for the $350 fee?
