Selling returned merchandise as new or used?

I have merchandise that my customers have returned in like-new condition but the unit carton packaging has been damaged and the bar code has the LPN label over it.

I'd like to resell these items as FBM at a discount. When I copy my FBA listing to create a new product that I ship FBM and use the existing UPC product ID, the "offer condition type" is locked out as "new."

Options:

1. Sell as new with a note regarding the condition of the unit carton,

2. Sell as "don't have external product ID" (or something like that) an label as "used."

Any suggestions?

There used to be an ability to put 'notes' in the condition for new items. I used it to keep track of colors and gauges for things as an added reminder since Amazon titles continually get messed up.

That ability was removed several years ago (unless Amazon backtracked AGAIN) so it can't be done the last I checked.

Also, on Amazon "NEW" stands for pristine, never been touched by human hands.

If you sell damaged packages as 'new' prepare for complaints and possibly IP violation notices from buyers that were looking for gift quality items.

See if your category has 'open box' ability or sell as used/almost new but NEVER 'new' on here. Trouble lurks!
