While I realize there can be no single, silver bullet answer; has anyone had any success with a certain Amazon Dept., or appeal, or US based management contact- anything really- to help with bad actors’ provable fake reviews?
I’ve had jaw-dropping experiences that beggar description; however, the power of a competitor’s fake review, even if they were smart enough to have a person not connected to their address write it- the power to impact sales negatively is both real and frustrating.
Sometimes sales can drop so precipitously that you can be talking about 70+%! I’ve been there and experienced it.
In one particularly egregious case, we even had approval in an email from a US -based Amazon manager in an email to have the demonstrably preposterous “product review” removed, only to be thwarted later by someone in India who was that manager’s higher up. He sent a canned, pointless template email and refused to remove it. I could go into the comical details of it but don’t want to break any forum or Amazon rules…
I even wondered if I could stop an FBA order or two that we KNEW were being shipped to a couple of, to put it charitably, unreputable competitors’ warehouse in the same city we’re in bc we knew a fake one would be in the hopper. And sure enough, they were published later.
Sorry to ramble on, but I feel like other sellers could benefit from the successful trials and tribulations of other people on the forum if they would like to share.
I would also add that in some instances, since we sell both wholesale off of Amazon, and retail here, there have been manufacturing batches with 300,000+ units without a single buyer - repeat not a single buyer - complaint, and I am of course referring to professional buyers/procurement managers. Even with ASINs that generated thousands of units of sales here…
I am sure that all, or many, of the experienced sellers here have been told: “…it’s a product review and that’s just the way it is, it’s going to stay…” or words to that effect.
Any tips at all would be appreciated!
