This is a big deal for holiday planning, and there should have been more advance notice - I only saw this the day the change went into effect.
Does this mean if we want to have a standard coupon that's longer than 30 days, we just need to create a new one, or duplicate the old one? Can we set these up in advance for the same product?
30 Days for a regular? Could you at least have allowed 31 - so we could update them on a specific day monthly.
From our experience, there's really no benefit to run a coupon for months, but people buying don't know how long or if the coupon will be there next time they visit the listing. The less certainty the buyer has on the availability of the coupon, the MORE apt they will be to order NOW rather than delay the purchase. If there was a note by the coupon: "ORDER NOW TO SAVE WITH THIS TEMPORARY COUPON" it might get some to order NOW. If the coupons had a countdown with "Order within X minutes to save with this coupon!" it would spur more immediacy in ordering. People delay ordering and load up their shopping carts knowing the coupons are locked in, most likely, and are ALWAYS there. But with the way the system is set up, there's no real incentive to order now rather than *whenever*.
The idea of the coupon is to spur more sales in the near future, not drag it out months. Right now there's no immediacy customers can *feel.*
