Amazon auto-authorized a return that is 113 days old.

Amazon just auto-authorized a return on a power tool for an order 113 days old. How do we stop this from happening?

Auto Authorized doesn't mean auto refund. The item needs to be returned to you. At the time of receipt, you can charge a 100% restocking fee if you so choose. Amazon is notorious for allowing returns way past the return window.

I would relay this fact to the buyer. Tell him that you plan to do it.

And report him to badbuyerlist.

Note that he cannot leave feedback for you. The best thing to do is go ahead and charge restoking fee. It is your judgement. Just be fair to yourself and to the buyer.

Like others have said.. This customer cannot leave feedback. And the Amazon feedback system is just an extortion / vengeance system and now that cannot be used by this customer. I would charge a 100% restock.

Shame on Amazon. 113 days is insane.

We did communicate to the buyer the 30-day return policy. I guess we will see.

I had that happen with a cappuccino maker. The customer returned it 7 months after buying it. I put something up about it in here and Amazon got me my money back.

The same thing happened to me and Amazon refunded the customer before the damaged CD was in my hands ... I've removed all of my CD's from the site and I have stopped listing new items on Amazon. No big loss. I sell ten times as much inventory on eBay.

Actually, if you check the current Restocking Fee chart you will see that a Seller may only charge a 20% Restocking Fee if Returned in Original Condition AFTER the Return window has expired.

This means that IF you withhold more, and the Buyer files an A-Z Claim, you will lose.

This only applies to U.S.A. based Sellers. All others should check the current Restocking Fee chart.

I wouldn't do a thing or worry about it. Although when there is a problem I do try to reach out to the buyer & try to resolve the issue with a partial refund only about 40% of my returns actually get returned. I have even had buyer's I have offered partial refunds to which declined not return the item & the return get closed.

IF it gets returned I will take pictures & put it back to stock.

IF it gets refunded I will file a SAFE-T Claim although by doing this you run the risk of it going to a rep that doesn't know or follow amazon's policies. You are 100% in the right on this. The return shouldn't have been authorized, if it proceeds it is on amazon. This is all amazon's policy not mine. The old system was way better where we could accept or decline returns.
