How to get help with a complicated refund?

Hey everyone, Last year in September, we sent an item into FBA that was expirable. This item sells 75% of it in December. It is a food item that expires in 07/2025. Amazon took until mid-November to process the item for receiving. It then sold around 10 units before it was shut off. The explanation was that it had to transfer to Fulfillment Centers.

We were then told it wasn't going to be available for sale until December 24th. This means our best-selling ASIN in December would miss out on the best weeks. Then, we were told we could potentially get refunded for at least some of these units since they were supposed to be for sale.

No response from Amazon or our growth consultant for months, and then the item magically started selling in February of this year.

How should we go about getting this fixed? We will be out tens of thousands of dollars of inventory that will go bad if we don't get a refund for this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi @Seller_SE5pdku0zb70j,

Looking at the FBA inventory reimbursement policy here, I believe you have a good case for filing a claim. Under the "Eligibility" section, your situation meets the key requirements: your items were registered in FBA, and the delay occurred during fulfillment center operations.

I'd recommend filing a "Fulfillment center operations claim" (you'll find this option listed in the "Claims" section of the help page). When submitting your claim, it would be helpful to include:

  • Your complete timeline from September shipment through February sales resumption
  • Documentation of the peak season impact (especially given your typical December sales volume)
  • Details about the July 2025 expiration date and its implications

One important note from the help page's "Important" disclaimer: make sure to include all supporting documentation with your initial claim. The policy mentions that claims may be declined if they're missing information, and we want to help you avoid any delays.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction!
