Buy it Again Button?

This morning I went to my previous orders because I wanted to purchase something again from a couple of Amazon sellers. When I pulled up the order there wasn’t an Add to Cart button but there was a Buy it Again button. So I clicked that thinking it would add it to my cart. I did that with a couple of items before I realized it wasn’t adding it to my cart. So what in the heck is the Buy it Again button for anyway?

You actually have to select the number of items you want to buy again. (1,2.3,3,etc…)
Then it will be added to your cart.

I feel sort of dumb asking the question but I am sure I am not the only customer that is confused by this. I went back and did it again and it takes me to another page that says Buy Now. When you click that button it adds it to the cart. It does not give you an option to enter the quantity you want to purchase, just adds it to your cart. I just find this to be sort of useless. Why can’t they just use an add to cart button there and make it simple?
